In Serbian mythology the ''Zmaj''(ground being) can shape shift into humans and live with them and even reproduce with them and the children have certain gifts. Also Zmaj was not seen as an evil creature.

We have ''drekavtsi''(screamers), which still haunt the region. Bodies are found mutilated, but the screamer it self is never seen.
Also we have ''utvara'' which causes bones to break. Victims say that they had a glimpse of a shadow of sorts.
