I think many people would be satisfied being farmers growing their own food and raising their own livestock, along with having their own family. However, we live in a world where division of labor is forced upon us, and only giant mega corporations or wealthy hipster yuppies can afford to do this, so people find the next best thing. No everyone wants millions, they just want a comfortable life.

Private sector is only one degree separated from public sector jobs, as the state still enforces all of their rules and regulations. Why would you not maximize your advantages in this life? There is an unofficial moral guide in regards to private sector employers that's been implanted into your head, and serves no benefit to you.

Sounds like you should negotiate with your employer and present options that the public sector would offer you. Request a raise. Your employer wants to maximize his profit as well, at your expense. It's not someone working for the government that's taking away your pay, it's your employers paying themselves crazy high salaries, and delegating their work to several other persons, leaving then to do very little.
This post is everything wrong with France in a nutshell. This mindset dooms it to being a second Italy when there's nothing preventing them from being a second Germany.

What's with everyone hating on government workers? You people like getting exploited by your boss and want more people to share your condition? Misery sure loves company.
France is well endowed when it comes to government workforce but it's not spending excessively in staff costs than other OECD countries. Our overblown state budget mostly comes from the Healthcare system, our education spendings and our military budget.
Cutting through staff costs has been proven to be ineffective during the 2007-2012 period when our former President Nicolas Sarkozy suppressed 150 000 government jobs for about 5 billions € in public saving which far from being substantial compared to France's debt and public deficit, and was very detrimental to the quality of some of our public services since they became understaffed.
Last but not least, real french people, the ones Jow Forums calls "based and Redpilled" want more public services as they are growing increasingly angry that it's the mussies and the negroes who get most of the nice things. Real french people enjoy state intervention, they just disagree with how that money is being spent right now. Only city soyboys want the State to flatout spend less and fire government works for shaky reasons.
