Crossing a river in one of the most geographically isolated parts of India. Taken a few weeks back during monsoon. In winter, that particular crossing is only ankle-deep, but it was a waist-high torrent when we went through. Guys on the bicycles helped carry the bike over the water. Wasn't too difficult, since it's only a 125cc Hero Honda.

The Maoists are frequently referred to as Naxalites in India. It's arguably the longest-running left-wing insurgency in the world. About 6,000 security personnel have been killed in the last 12-13 years, as well as several prominent regional politicians.

I was, now I'm in the city again.
Most people don't. Even the average Indian is only dimly aware of the extent of the Maoist insurgency. Left-wing rebels control a tract of sparsely-populated jungle and hills the size of some small countries. However, more aggressive [read: reductive, militaristic] government policies have seen significant inroads made against the Maoists in the past 6-8 years. The area under their direct control has shrunk noticeably since about 2013.
