Zoomer here

My boomer grandma wants to buy me the new iphone XS. I told her instead to give me the money that would be spent on the iphone, so I could use it for investments (i said stocks but obv would spend it on crypto). i explained to her that those phones are a waste of money and that i want to start saving money and investments in order to be financially responsible. she told me no and is buying me the phone no matter. wat do? >:(

if you really dont want it, tell her that you really dont need it. if she insists, sell the phone and put the money to more effective use..

if it upsets her, buy her a small gift with some of the money to show her that you appreciate the thought that she was thinking of you. it is nice to have a grandma who thinks of you

Giver her the old lickeroo she will change her mind.

Enjoy your youth, get a good education and stop worrying about investing pocket change. Unironically.

but i need to be rich or ill kms by 30

This. Let your grandma buy you a nice phone. Enjoy things. Things don't need to be expensive in order to appreciate them. If you spend your life just trying to make our bank account go up, I promise you that you will regret it in the end.

what you are excited about 1k?
lol

im not stupid i know its not a lot but its still something
1k can make a big diff in crypto

Listen to this nigga

Basically you're telling her that you'd rather have a cheap phone and gamble the difference.
Can't say I'm surprised at her answer.

based /sip/ boomer with actual good advice

tpbp

>1k can make a big diff in crypto

You're not going to turn 1k into 1 million, like that one lucky zoomer did, in crypto anymore bro. Those days are looooooong gone. Just take the phone and thank her.

>complaining about a generous gift from a loved one

fucking zoomer scum

That’s because you’re looking at past returns. Stocks have a long term expected nominal return of 6-10%. Even if you assume crypto has an expected return of 15% (that’s very optimistic) then that’s only $150 per year. It’s great that you want to be financially responsible, but that’s pocket change in the long run.

t. I was just like you when I was 17 and spent hundreds of hours worrying about my 10k in investments. Those hours would have been A LOT better spent studying or enjoying life.

just smash the phone and set it on her kitchen table and piss on it then never speak to her again. send her a card in the mail once a month that says "i hate you" until she dies of old age.

eat shit. Unironically.

hes not spending the rest of his life trying to make his bank account go up. hes trying to invest while he is young so that he isnt still a fucking total poorfag by the time he is our age. even if he fails at least he learns something.

fucking comments like this piss me off. probably some richfag that wants us poors to stay in our place

if bitcoin gets to a million within a few years his 1k will be over 100k

and then he will have some money worth investing in a decade

you are a fucking idot so the studying wouldnt have gotten you anywhere

protip, it wont

Well, it did get me somewhere. I will be able to retire comfortably at 30 yo if I really want to, Why are you so upset?

protip: 1k is fuck all
he has nothing to lose

risk fuck all, potentially gain much more. not hard to figure out. basic risk management. managing risks still means you have to take risks. play it totally safe and what happens? nothing, because 1k is fuck all.

meanwhile, you dont know what bitcoin is going to do. and your arrogance shows your inexperience in the market. its not that predictable. it could go to a million, it is somewhat plausible, even likely in the long run.

even if bitcoin doesnt, the crypto market is here to stay. and he gets in at a young age then he will have knowledge and experience even if he loses his fuck all 1k

this logic is irrefutable fellow poorfags
buy some coins

no you wont
the dreams of youth haha
should have stuck to your 10k investment

i agree

I have a 900k net worth and just turned 24. Made all of it from online poker and investments and now studying finance at a solid university. I’m doing fine financially, thank you.

>i made my money on investments made at a young age, but let me tell you, investing at a young age was a waste of time, i should have spent that time studying

you are so fucking confused i dont think you have a point to make

>online poker
lol
with daddies money?

fag

And here’s a screenshot of my past 12 months of poker. Keep coping with your bad life decisions.

Just sell it

hey buddy, im not the guy so insecure he has to try to prove himself to a random anonymous heckler

nice photoshopped screenshot, should show it to the women at the bar, maybe trick them into believing it and they will sleep with you.

I literally turned a couple of hundred bucks into almost 1MM. I didn’t get anything from my dad. I realize that 99.9% of people can’t do something like that and the best option for most people to have a 6 figure income as quickly as possible is to get a good education. And yes, worrying about my investments before I had a couple of hundred k wasn’t the best use of my time.

you boomers derailed my thread, wtf. why are boomers so bitter about everything?

does this larp make you feel better about yourself?

let me tell you a little about who you are talking to here kid.

i started with only a single nickle and worked my way up to 300 million in only 3 months. so i know a thing or two about investments.

if you didnt start worrying or thinking about investments until 200k then you wouldnt have ever even gotten to 200k, if you even did, which you didnt. regular jobs dont pay 200k so youd have to get there by investment or daddies money.

your story is falling apart. mine is rock solid because its the truth

you will understand when you are a 30 year old boomer

I posted a screenshot because you said this And most people on biz (including you) assume anyone who claims to be even somewhat successful is larping.

You seem like a sad person. I hope you make it in life.

nah, its not that
its that your story is bullshit and retarded, its not even plausible or consistent

its some dumb bullshit you made up to feel like the big guy on Jow Forums with your dumbshit advice about rolling over and giving up and "studying". fag tier boomer shit advice from some fake fuck making shit up.

give it a rest

kid should invest 1k in the market. its the wisest way to spend only 1k. spending it on having fun and studying is 100% assured to get him fucking nowhere

Well, it’s the truth. I can post as many screenshots of PT4, my cashier etc. as you want. You might not agree with my advise, but there no need to act like such an asshole.

why would i want that? youre the one who cares about proving himself to me for some reason. and its a bit weird honestly.

oh dear, was i too hard on you sweetie?
if that was rough for you maybe you should go back to facebook or wherever the aging and senile spend their time online

anyways its been fun, have a good night

>gain much more
thats where the logic is flawed. $1k right now would buy 0.1524 btc. Say btc rises next year, to 12k. he now has $1828. long term cap gains is 15%, so you pay $274 in taxes.
$1554 net. After a fucking year if btc happens to double.

Likely, he will just lose it all - and be out a phone. most people are not made for high risk investments.

Yea I agree that’s it’s a waste of time. Your autistic rage is not too hard on me, it’s just pointless. Take care. I hope you make it :)
