>tfw you realize there is an American state that's not in the American continent

You're literally called like that only because you were the first ones to get independence and in your fantasies you would have eventually covered the whole continent.
Why won't you just adopt "United Statian" or "US American"? It doesn't even sound bad.

Essentially you can call them ''unionists'', as they were called during Civil war.

Unionist nowdays indicates anyone who supports a certain kind of Union, it's also kinda too closely associated with Irish/Scottish unionism I think.

>because you were the first ones to get independence
And the first ones to try and enshrine Enlightenment values on paper- for individuals. Thats were the entire America name came from- Independence needed to happen because the command structures from old world.

>Annex Canada and Greenland
>get called North-Americans
>???
>all the world problems are solved.

>Unitedstatians unironically think there is a country called "America" INSIDE a continent called "North America"

No, Americans literally have their president do speeches on the ''state of the union''. Their country is a Union of states.

>Stop calling the entirety of this hemisphere 'America' just because its most famous country is 'The United States of America (not a landmass but an enlightenment figure -Amerigo-)
>problem solved

Pretty sure they only do it to trigger you guys, most of the time they just use "US" as an adjective and sometimes "USA" as noun. They only use "America" when they want to give a nationalist speech.

>his country's name is so shitty and unimaginative they have to appropriate the name for a whole continent.
Also, America is one continent. Europe and Asia are two. "Eurasia" is not a thing. It is literally the merger of Europe and Asia.

lowest IQ post I've seen all day

>Some deeply triggered burger spent time making this

>Europe and Asia are two. "Eurasia" is not a thing. It is literally the merger of Europe and Asia.
What? Everyone knows that Eurasia is a portmanteau, your point being? Geographically Eurasia makes much more sense than the Americas as a single continent

>in the english language
thats why i told you to change to another one.
btw, it's a stupid discussion

Liteerally no one else cares about being called american, it's just them and mexicans who get mad at everything.

work on your redaction

>Geographically
Continents are not defined by geografy alone. It's an arbitrary mix of cutural and geografic criteria. America as one continent makes more sense than Eurasia. Aslo, take a look at the name. Since the dawn of recorded history there has been a distinction between the two. While the American continent was divided in two in American literture to legitimize Central America and the Caribean as their back yard and try to pull them away from the South American countries, which could stand up to them with relatively more ease.

this

it would be like calling canadians "dominionists" or britons "united kingdomers"

*geography fuck

It's called the United States of America because one day every single nation-state in the Americas will unite under the star-spangled banner, thus fully consolidating the United States of America. One Nation, One Leader, Many Mutts.

oops, meant to post this one
