Optimal setup is a great PC/home server, a laptop if you need it for work (or tablet if you like large objects in your anus or can afford luxury items) and a smartphone anywhere from 200 to whatever fancy price you want to spend on it. Smartphones are just too useful.

Actually if you are poor a smartphone gives you far more possibilities than a PC, you can use it literally anywhere with the downside of being clunkier to use, but for normies it's probably easier to tap and swipe than interfacing with keyboard and mouse.

Smartphones never resonated with me. Typing on them has always been too cumbersome, the screens too small to be of any use for anything other content consumption, and carrying something with me that's constantly trying to pull focus is just annoying to me.

I'm sure i'm in the minority here, but I prefer a compact laptop over smartphones any day.

All the advertisement illustration showed angles where you only see the millimeters thinness of the border hiding the bulkiness, suggesting the whole machine was millimeters thin.

I don't get all this forced trend toward thin hardware.
I'd be happier with laptops with more key travel then the current trend. I'd want 4.7 inch smartphone 1.5cm thick if that means a battery charge once a week.
The one thing I appreciate is the high dpi because it displays runes nicely. But yeah, I have 1080p on my 5inch smartphone and I wouldn't go higher it this means sacrificing battery life.
