The hardest part about EU4 is making money.
Warfare is easy, diplomacy is easy, religion is easy, etc. but in almost every game I play I end up bankrupting my country.

Juggle aggressive expansion by expanding in 2 directions. Upstream of your home trade node, and downstream of your home node to eventually change your trade port until you reach an end node.
Trade companies are the biggest gold maker. Whenever i play in Africa of asia the first thing i do is get my capital to europe for the trade companies and end trade nodes.
Don't expect to blob and go positive until 1550-1600 except for a couple already rich countries. Just take loans, expand, steal gold/war reps/ transfer trade power and pay off loans with newer bigger loans. Don't bankrupt yourself with too many cannons early.
