As long as people are willing to accept goods and services for USD then no it’s not worthless. It’s the most stable currency around backed by a 20 trillion dollar economy. Don’t listen to lolbertarians.

Gold had literally no use for most of its discovery except for jewelry before modern electronics was invented and its electro-chemical property. Fiat currency also exists in limited supply, a supply which isn't as arbitrary as that of gold but one which can actually be controlled to make monetary interventions.
