Yes, simply because a lot of SEA are Chinese mutts. Maybe not so much in Eastern Indonesia, but Viets, Thais and a lot of Filipinos can easily pass as EA.

Chinese definitely pass, but that's because they've been immigrating to SEA for a long time so they're just an integral part of their societies.
Koreans and Japanese would be easier to spot.
In general one can still distinguish between who has mostly Austronesian ancestry and those who are mostly East Asian, but it's harder to spot a foreigner because the Chinese made SEA more chinky-looking.

no, most western indonesian come from southern china just like mainland SEA, mixed with austronesian aborigines just like pinoys.
the most mixed is probably vietnam and thailand, they have heavy han admixture.

there is no pure southeast asian, everyone either comes from dong son culture or mixed with austronesian or melanesian.
if you're asking for purest austronesian then the answer is taiwan aborigines and ainus (proto-austronesian).

yes and no, southeast asian is a term that covered lots of ethnicities including southern chinese, austronesian, melanesian or mixed.
