Any Canadian user willing to give me a quick rundown on Canadian colleges in general?
I'm one click away on plunging all my 34k USD into a degree at Winnipeg college, starting in January. Will I be able to find CS work as a student there?

why would you pay inflated international student costs?
Canada has a slow economy, you don't move here to make money, just to spend it.
I want to get a better softeng job, not necessarily from Canada.
in what 1st world country is a canadian degree worth more than a us one.
The thought of u paying to go to Winnipeg makes me feel very scared and sorry for you. Especially $34K.
t. Canadian
The US economy is almost universally better performing than any Canadian province. If you ranked the US states and Provinces via an aggregate of economic performance measures like GDP per capita, growth, and productivity, every US state tops every Canadian province with few exceptions.
Sure, get educated in Canada. Just know that your best job prospects are in the US, and any amount of time you spend in Canada you're paying more for everything (CPI).
Winnipeg seems like a 10/10 snowy comfy little town, something along the lines of twin peaks
i don't know any place with winter intake in usa, esp for 2nd degree
There is nothing comfy about Winnepeg winter. It is ball freezing cold and windy all the fucking time. If you want sort of quiet small town feel i suggest somewhere in the maritimes.
why is it so important to start in winter.
yep seems like i underresearched, some pretty solid degrees in the eastern canada
thanks user
do you know whether it's possible to find some sysadmin/security auditor job as a freshman provided i know my shit?
i don't have anything better to do, just cashed out my crypto gains and finished my project job, so i figured it's a good idea
id take eastern schools over winnipeg, but there are no jobs in the maritimes unless you are in halifax
If your answer is anything other than B or I you're a pleb
rolling for E and H
Winnipeg is the armpit if canada. Everyone who i've ever met who lived there hates it. It's depressing and boring.
Confirmed, no one likes Winnipeg. The maritimes are comfy and relatively cheap, but no jobs and less prestigious schools. The good schools are in BC, Alberta, and Ontario, but now it costs more.
Fuck winnipeg my dude.
I did CS at McGill, which was bomb. Good financial aid opportunities too. Concordia U is also supposed to be decent.
As long as you can deal with
>The cold
>the quacking french canadians
>the separatist marches
>tabernac
Another option is do a bootcamp. They are expensive, but my co-founder did a CS bootcamp in SF and landed a full-stack job at a solid salary pretty quickly.
Don't know if you need a college degree though.
Enjoy being stabbed by a drunken chug and bleeding out in a snowbank fren
CEJK are the only choices
i don't really want to blend in the bootcamp scene doing ""webdev"" rajeesh-tier stuff. i'd like to study lisp dialects and develop my functional programming skills, this kinda stuff.
what is cejk? literally unsearchable
Opinions on Waterloo and Toronto University on CS for a MSc ?
U of T if you want a top tier school. Go to Quebec is you want the most bang for your buck
