hard to say because there are different definations of what makes a movie of a certain origin
if just russian(soviet) produced id go with, "Arsenal" (Dovzhenko)
if russian made (director) id go with "Salt for Svanetia" (Kalatozov)
if russian produce, made and located in russia, id go with Eisenstein's "October"

all of Dovzhenko sound kinos were in russian
Well, no.
From what I remember his first sound film was mostly in Ukrainian (Ivan, 1932). And that's a great movie by the way.

it is a good movie, but that is 1/4 in Ukrainian
1/7 if you count the movies he wrote, directed by his wife after his death
You may be right, whatever, I think you understand that there were many reasons to make films in Russian, not in local/national languages.
yes i do
we went down this road because of your butthurt post
dovzhenko was a crypto-nationalist that probably jerked off to pictures of ukraine
which still not makes him Russian why would somebody call him in that way wtf
you clearly didnt read my original post
and just saw the name dovzhenko and chimped out

>if just russian(soviet) produced
Well, as far as I know, most of his films were ukrainian(soviet) produced - early films in VUFKU (All-Ukrainian Photo and Cinema Administration) and later in Ukrainfilm. I stand for opinion that Ukrainian Soviet Republic was rather a thing than not, and that it had its, somehow, own culture or at least cultural phenomenons. Especially when we are talking about cinema.
