/pmg/ - Precious Metals General

Welcome to /pmg/ - Edition #2
>Introduction
This is an inclusive thread for all precious metals discussion that pertain to investing in gold, silver, platinum, and palladium, for coins, rounds, and bars. Other metals (like copper) are welcome as well. Physical possession is always recommended. Please keep discussions civil and evidence-based, and refrain from unnecessary ad hominem arguments. If you prefer crypto over PM, that's fine. If you prefer one PM over others, that's fine too. Just remember, all precious metals are precious and have their rightful purpose in both industry and investment. A good strategy should be to diversify and have as many PM's as possible.

Good general. Glad to see something like this. I'll be lurking.

This, also have another bump. Jow Forums is in dier need of actual content. I just hope this general doesn't get annexed by tripfags like the stock market one.

Time buy gold or wait for $1000?

Why is silver dropping so hard?

What % of your money should be in pm?

I consider it to be a safe store of value. Therefore whatever I'm not investing with or I need for immediate or midterm expenses. Of course I want to have a good chunk of cash for a liquidity. But having bars in coins hidden somewhere is the best way to hedge against any huge unforeseen circumstances.

Everything is up this morning.

70% gold
30% silver
fuck platinum and palladium

I'm not going for %.
The goal is to have ~100-150oz silver and ~3oz Gold.

Yes but why is silver dropping the past 3 months?

>that user who says you shouldn’t invest in PMs because a theoretical asteroid somewhere might convievably be mined sometime in the future, possibly long after you’re dead

>that other user who cant imagine any economic scenarios between normal and The Road

>that other other user who says you can’t eat gold in a crisis like nobody knows that

>that really optimistic guy that thinks we’re going back to the silver standard any day now (it’d be nice, but it’s extremely unlikely)

There, I got those all out of the way ahead of time.

Agreed. It's nice to have a thread that's not shilling the same shitcoins over and over again.

Supply and demand, futures contracts, mining output, etc etc. It will probably go back up in the next year or two, it really can't go much lower. I'd say $12 is the bottom.

Wait so $5k in PM is all I need to make it in the apocalypse?
I don't have any guns, but my extended family has hundreds of acres and a full-on armory. If fiat value crashes and I'm the only one with silver/gold hopefully they will take me in.

>Not one mention of copper
You guys deserve to stay poor

It's not a PM but OP said it's welcome to be discussed here. Not sure why people would stack copper though. What's the logic behind this? Fiber optic reduced one of the major needs of copper in the last 10 years, and the price has been between $2 and $4 for nearly two decades.

How many oz do I need to make it fellas?

Attached: serveimage.jpg (630x635, 65K)

Besides >muh apocalypse, are there any reasons to buy physical precious metals over shares of a precious metals trust backed by their own physical metal (like $GLD and $SLV).

Always take physical delivery.

If you listen to this fella, you deserve everything bad coming your way

Daily reminder that Gold and Silver shill threads are made by communists and the financially retarded

Secondary reminder that with rising interests rates your metals are more worthless than the previous years and everyone on this thread is stupid

Can you please explain to me what having PMs have to do with being a commie?
I don't get that one.

Because you fags jerk each other off about hyperinflation and economic collapse

Ignore him, he's a low quality troll.

I don't believe either of those will happen, but I think Gold, Silver, Platinum are good investments for the coming decade(s) as these resources become more scarce. If you don't have anything positive to contribute to this thread please leave. Thank you.

go fuck yourself retard

Enjoy losing more money because you dont know fundmentals

That's a very well thought-out argument, user. Thanks.

Gold bugs got destroyed once again. Dollar rally killing the pms and they rushed to buy the dip already while it's still going wayy more further down

Attached: rJ83ruS.gif (500x250, 63K)

Its very close to be a precious metal and it's widely used and could see growing demand in the future (and thus price due to scarce supply).

>implying I need to argue with dumbass goldbugs
>implying you dont lose on the dailey

>Enjoy losing more money because you dont know fundmentals
Can't even spell "fundamentals" topkek

PMs aren't some get rich quick scheme like the cyrpto bubble. This is long term investment for decades down the line. I don't expect to see returns in a few months or few years.

Copper is even more of a pure commodity play than silver is. The downside? I don’t have a warehouse to store metric tons of copper. Also, China growth is shitting the bed so pure commodity plays are stupid right now.

Youre a shit investor
Youre literally gambling on the price of a rock that could do anything when you could be investing in real companies

The richest men in the world dont even buy this shit except for tiny speculative positions

Is it really necessary to be this rude, and post in a topic you have no interest in?

Yeah, because I hate you fucking faggots and so does the rest of the finical world
Youve been scamming people for thousands of years now

You entered a thread with topic you hate and now you are mad.
How could that happen?

He is not. But he has a point. PM is very speculative and non-yielding "currency"

stop scamming people scumbag

>finical world
Imagine being so angry about a thread that you can't spell financial.

Gold and silver have always been a store of wealth. They are not the same type of investment as stocks/bonds or crypto.

If it does go to $1000, that'll take over a year. It might no go that low to begin with.

Or they'll take it from you. Get some guns you dumb nigger.

No, they are Christians so they wouldn't do that.

Bump for PMs

Bump

I'm buying 1 ounce of silver every month. Doesn't cost much and its a comfy way to save.

Silver is about to explode

Who here /rhodium/

tfw the intern of some shitty pm site is being paid $18/hour to post on Jow Forums for weeks on end

What's the deal with JP Morgan accumulating all that silver? When this play will unfold? 2020's?

I can assure you I don't work for a PM dealer. That would be a cool job though. Want to talk about paid shills? Just look at all the chainlink and holochain threads posted every day.

how long do I have to accumulate?

Kek.
>HISTORICAL movement in silver, 25+ years reversal! Now everyone is net-long!
>1 year later, silver down by $1

before 2020 I would assume, I think PMs really stand to take off in the next decade

2019 is the year of accumulation: phys gold/silver, PM mining stocks, maybe some other commodities

Its really not. Find low P/E with high RoA stocks, corporate bonds or just low-cost index tracker. Dont buy shiny rocks

We are hit a major resistance lvl... weekly chart shows a strong buy... daily is confirming. But as always do your own hw! Best of luck fren

PMs aren't "rocks"
They are rare transition metals that have significant uses in industry (including the device you used to post in this thread). Quit calling things you don't like shiny rocks, that's not an argument.

Fuck you guyz with all that economic bs
Im into silver for a shitload of bullions. I dont even want to sell or trade them.
I just like thinking bout gud ol times when Genoa financed aztec genocide by Spanish proxy to flood China with silver. Then I look at my bullions and coins and think what a lucky bastard I am to be born when I get get as many silver as I want.
MB, I will go into copper bullions, cos they take up more space and make me feel richer.

Copper bullion is dumb. Just buy a bunch of peeled copper cables from yhe junkyard.

They dont satisfy my bullion fetish
But I think I will be able to get off, if I think about poor addicted souls stripping them from their grammas home to get a hit

The demand for silver might depend on industrial purposes to a certain degree but gold is primarily driven by jewelry aka shiny rocks

Without a bubble in precious metals, you'll never "make it" by owning precious metals. PMs are there to protect your purchasing power in the event of a currency crisis.

Jewelry is an industrial application. People have been using jewelry since recorded history. Quit discounting that market sector demand as "shiny rocks". Gold also has important applications in electronics, dentistry, and aerospace as well.

Ignore him. He's a Commie. Who isn't a Commie? How about the Founding Fathers of the U.S.A. who specifically specified that the national money be denominated in gold and silver. If any group of people aren't Commies, it's people like Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin.

Kel troll

No, they weren’t commies, they were bongs with jungle fever.

Forget metals, LINK will be 10$ eoy.

Link is worthless, like most cryptos.

The dollar will return to a silver standard shortly.

Silver un-ironically 3k eoy

Is there any proof that JP Morgan is hording tons of silver or is it just speculation because someone said it and another one repeated it?

Look at the chart litterally 3 posts above you brainlet

Attached: 1536284059538.png (780x483, 88K)

thats comex silver stocks
Which is non existing silver.
Made up on the paper.

I mean real physical silver, above ground silver.

Good question. Watch this, the guy knows more than anyone on this board

youtu.be/n_h-5H421MA

>Currently JP Morgan now holds over 50% of the total COMEX physical silver bullion holdings.

Stop being retarded.

Strong dollar / faith in US government
The bull market will be back within a few years

I hate to say it, but this chart isn't using the right data points
sdbullion.com/blog/how-much-silver-gold-is-there/
>Today in 2018, there is approximately 2.5 billion oz of Gold Bullion and 4 billion oz of Silver Bullion in the world.

This shit cray

Attached: silver-commercial-long.png (889x620, 36K)

?

>Reading a chart is hard nowadays
It shows the ABOVE GROUND supply

>hedging with an oxygen reactive metal
They'd need to all be individually sealed unless you want to be trading in cupric and cuprous oxides.

Silver to the moon!

Explain pls

Attached: 1529701880828.jpg (846x1024, 59K)

Is a sound wave

Read the article, it shows above ground supplies. The data points for your chart are wrong.

>backed by their own physical metal
ya dun goofed

Silvers going to 20!

Bump

PM + Bump

Come on, it's Monday night, where my bugs at?

Sup homie, boomer drinking my monster.

Why would you drink a monster this late?

Dear user, please hold almost all of your PM in gold. You will never regret holding physical gold, you will never desire to sell it. You will curse trying to store and move around heavy ass silver. -Your future boomer back

What's your opinion on platinum?
