Why are American school lunches so terrible compared to every other country with school lunch programs even much poorer countries? And yet cost so much more.

i hated the shitty rectangle pizza with the cubes of pepperoni. and they had this rule that you needed to get 1 fruit or vegetable to buy your lunch, so everyone would get 1 apple/orange/banana and then throw it in the trash. bins of perfectly good fruit all wasted.

Because public schools are funded through local tax payers and not from the whole country. This allows rich areas to succeed even further compared to poor areas.

all of the government funding for schools goes toward useless shit instead of new books, new equipment, better food, etc. virtually every public school here, even in nice areas, is run-down and dilapidated.
