Orthodox church has more integrity and consequence in propagating anything from rituals to customs and teachings.
Catholic church, even before Vatican II, was a clusterfuck of all the previous attempts at preserving its power above all else, from imposing chastity on clergy (because clergy having offspring of their own would create inheritance disputes), to making people pay their way into heaven.
