Oh no, no more Hitler trucking through North Alaska. What now?

they have David Attenborough thus there is no competition desu.

The new Ken Burns documentary series about country music coming out tomorrow.

The knowledge that the day of his passing is coming soon pains me.
Especially as there's no one who can possibly replace him.

They used to make some amazing documentaries. Nowadays, they really have fallen behind.
But the BBC Storyville series, which takes documentaries from in-house but also other places, is probably the single best thing they ever put out. It's worth checking the history of their episodes if you ever want documentary recommendations. I watched the sublime PBS Jonestown documentary on there a few years ago.

Arte is the King of Documentaries, sorry.

>British documentary
>Here, in the jungles of Bhata-Tuthu, the praying mantis is in search of its prey
>3 minutes of very clean and uninterrupted footage of the pray mantis following a spider

>American documentary
>guitar riff playing in the background
>YOU PROBABLY WOULDN'T WANT ONE OF THESE KILLERS IN YOUR BACK YARD
>Rapid jump cuts of the praying mantis
>THE PRAYING MANTIS MIGHT LOOK LIKE A BUG IN CHURCH, BUT THIS NASTY MOTHER-SUCKER IS NOT TO BE MESSED WITH
>more flashy jump cuts
>THIS LITTLE SPIDER DOESNT KNOW WHATS WAITING FOR HIM, THE FURY OF THE MANTIS IS NOT TO BE UNDERESTIMATED
>more flashy jump cuts
>the mantis strikes
>strange animal growling and screeching noises are dubbed in as it attacks because silent footage is too boring for americans
>slow mo replay of the attack in black and white
>AND IT'S OVER IN A FLASH
>THAT LITTLE SPIDER
>SHOULD'VE PRAYED
>TO THE MANTIS
>Starwipe to the next clip

I bet quality will drop significantly when refugees will join the production

>now

Their pieces on Ring-wing parties and their ties to Russian banks and its governments are actually pretty great

This is a meme. Not every documentary is Kitchen Nightmares.
American documentaries were really good back in the day.
Not really. They just run unrelated crap.

>American documentaries were really good back in the day.
Gib examples

I don't know any of the names as I haven't watched them for years, but I remember staying up late to watch them (I wasn't allowed to record stuff).

>best documentary ever made

For me it's The World at War

Attached: world-at-war.jpg (342x414, 43K)

considering the kind of stuff they make nowadays, it's always weird when I find a well made documentary from decades ago and I see TLC in the end credits

what about vice

What are some good british nature documentaries?

Anyone recommend any space related documentaries? Preferably made in the past few years, since we've seen a revival in interest for space travel

good choice

It's definitely up there, yeah. For me it's between that and The Ascent of Man (which heavily inspired Cosmos).

Planet Earth is the obvious recommendation but I slightly prefer Life on Earth.

Haven't seen this, seems quite long for a documentary desu

I've heard good things about Chasing the Moon.

bbc is a corrupt shitfest stop encouraging them

>corrupt shitfest
can you elaborate?

America never made a worthwhile piece of filmography.

We want real human stories, and informative TV.
Do we get it? only a mere morsel. Is this the market place in action? if so it's fucking shite.

What type of stupid people watch ITV? I have never seen anything remotely watchable on that channel. What type of fat retards do we share our planet with, gobbling down ready meals while watching some Britain's got talent bollocks on a TV too big for their sitting room.

Why are we so incapable? Netflix is loaded and spends close to a billion a year on factual TV alone, and yet I have never seen a good documentary produced by Netflix, all soulless drivel that looks like it was created by a committee.

Passion is dead.We will continue to consumer the same shit because it reminds us of something that was once good.

And euros have? Don't make me laugh

You tell me, I haven't enjoyed a single film in my life.

Are you sure you're not just thinking of Ken Burns?

Because he's really the exception rather than the rule.

What about Carl Sagan?
