My ancestors were French and moved to the Maritimes in the 1600s. My family moved to Alberta when I was young, where most of the Slavs in Canada live. Anglos are genuinely mean to French Canadians and I found that Slavs were not so shallow. I made friends with Ukrainians, Serbs, and Poles mainly.
