Why Nerva?

Centralization is a major concern for all coins and the consequences are many. Giving too much hash power to an individual or pool increases the risk of a 51% attack, where a blockchain can be hijacked and manipulated for malicious purposes, but it also increases the fragility of a network. If a pool holding for example 65% of a network hashrate goes down, the network instantly loses 65% of it’s hash power, struggling to validate transactions and progress the blockchain. This results in increased transaction times and difficulty in making transactions, causing a loss of reputation to the coin and frustration to end users.

Centralization of hash power also causes the concentration of coin distribution. The vast majority of Cryptonight ASICs are operated by only a few companies in the business of making these devices. As a result, coins mined by ASICs are funneling the vast majority of their block rewards to only a small group of people, effectively centralizing price and distribution control and promoting cartel like behavior among these individuals.

NERVAs model of solo CPU mining maximizes hashrate distribution, making it much more difficult for any one entity to obtain the 51% threshold to stage an attack against the coin, while minimizing the network disruption caused by nodes going off the network. Distributed hashrate also has the added advantage of more equitable coin distribution creating a fairer system for all participants.

It is legit as they come. I see this as a long term hold, but don't be surprised if it blows up next year once more people catch on. I was lucky enough to get in there super early, but it is still a steal at these prices.

I don't disagree with the anti-ASIC stance but I think people are going to get tired of solo mining once difficulty hits a certain threshhold (already some complaints on the ANN) and they start going days or longer without receiving a reward. Yeah, mathematically there should always be a chance you'll find that block and get your ROI, but this is why pool mining came into play in the first place -- because miners like regular payouts.

Let's assume Monero has "solved" the ASIC issue with periodic hard forks for the time being. Why is GPU mining so bad? Sure, there can be GPU-farm outfits that dominate the hashrate, but not to the same extent that ASIC manufacturers can no?

Same with nimiq (hold mas o menos 800k) and few other coins I participate in: hurrr durrpppp golden bull run and my coin listed 439 on CMC will definitely make x100-1000 just because I want to.

Also good feed back and word of mouth form members of the trtl and msr communities which has really helped. Nerva's fair mining with cpu only is a really good idea but im fearing that people are already finding ways of gaining mass hash power. Not to sound like a commie but anyone with funds enough to mine this early will be on top and end up controlling alot of the reward putting people off bothering to mine with shittier hardware and only those with a cpu farm will be left. It still has some problems that will be a struggle to overcome in the name of miner fairness

You could say pretty much every coin in crypto suffers from certain people/companies hogging most of the hash power though. At least nerva aims towards fair mining, unlike most other projects out there.

You are right Nerva has got a good hold on being fair for everyone but it still isnt immune to mass amounts of hash power being pointed at it, it's just restricted the method. If this coin does succeed, it will inspire clones which will lead to dedicated hardware rigs at a reduced cost potentially. Thus fueling the network by centralized sources. I know its not profitable to just have a cpu only fig but this shit is being optimized every day. I think its naive to think that Nerva will be immune from such tactics if it becomes worth something.

There is however an even dumber and even more fraudulent group of Pajeets who claim to have created the new Bitcoin or new Ethereum.
