Since that dinner the mom spent three weeks moving heaven and earth to get me a job, she'd pester her husband, she called in favours, got me interviews, asked me how they went, called back the people for me, worked on my CV with me, etc. then when I finally got the job she wanted nothing in return. She wished me luck and we haven't spoken since. I bought her a nice set of flowers though.
Anyways my point is she is in her 40s and is currently a trophy wife, i.e. clearly a stacy in her younger days, yet she acted towards me with more care and compassion than any of my male friends and associates. I have had little to no romantic luck with women, so I'm sure in the dating pool they can be quite nasty, but I see people on biz say women are incapable of empathy or loyalty or kindness, etc. So how do you guys explain this? Genuinely curious if there some other explanation.

Are you wealthy and of decent status as well? What they did is what the good ole boy network is. She wants her son to be happy and successful, and that includes having successful friends. If she thought you were a complete loser you wouldn’t be going out to dinner with them. And yeah, some women are great.
