23andMe beta update results.
As you can see, there's less Southern European, and for some reason, they've moved a bunch into Broadly West Asian even though I am clearly half Armenian.
Additionally, they've introduced a trace ancestry -- Native American. That's nonsensical. Very bad on their part.

Anyway, if you don't care about their subregions, do yourself a favour and go with ancestrydna, way bigger userbase and much more accurate

Its broad categories, non-dna based subragions/provinces, huge noise issues make it pretty bad. 90% shows it pretty well, and also how they can't pinpoint many things like French&German, random MENA admixture in the whole med, and so on

Ancestry uses a different method to process percentages, and has many more tested users. Obviously it doesn't go as deep as 23andme in subregional thingies, but it's obvious why

The mistake that 23andme did was to try and go as specific as possible. It’s already a massive issue trying to approximate ancestry on regions.

Even in the recent betas, other than meds still having huge noise issues with random menas, look at how they are trying to resolve the Italian-Greek-Cypriot issue generating even more noise, just...
And the bad thing is they can't roll back to a more accurate, broad scheme, since most people would be pretty pissed at seeing the subregions they don't understand why they are there vanish.
Ancestry is doing the right thing, going deeper only when more people are tested in a region
