OK what do you really know about these Peruvian llama farmers? Unless they rely on government welfare of some kind they are living on their own and I would say they are doing better than 13% of our population at least.

How do they collect water at the moment? I'm sure their methods could be improved on a local basis, and their water is a lot safer than that in the city.
Electricity can be produced locally but the problem is the more you rely on outside systems like machinery or electronics the more you become dependant on them. This also means they have to engage with the economic system, producing value somehow.
I'm sure they are able to move to the city if they wanted to.

I live on a reservation. My tribe’s elders literally horde all the fucking wealth we get from the government and spend it on luxury goods, never using it to give back to the community. I literally get zero (0) gibs from the US government and earn all my money at the tribe’s casino.

our natives aren't even really natives anymore you can be in a tribe with like 1/100000th admixture. and the governmental autonomy of reservations is used exclusively for putting up giant horrible looking roadside ads for tax-free smokes and alcohol. by the way roads that run through reservations are horribly kept. like you're on a fancy interstate and boom suddenly potholes and bumps everywhere, and ugly ass fucking signs

The successful casinos are all basically owned by a few meme tribes with like a few dozen members; basically some guys wanted to build a casino somewhere like Connecticut (easy drive to NYC) so they hired some genealogists to find some local people with Indian blood who could call themselves a tribe. The Sopranos did a good parody of this. And even those casinos are not doing so well these days. Expect it to get worse with more states legalizing gambling.

Isolation can be a blessing in some ways. Native reservations here have huge issues with abuse of alcohol and drugs like meth, it would probably be better for them if they were totally isolated from civilization and couldn't easily get that stuff
