>I'm new to the stock market, what stocks should I buy? Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks, and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.
Okay one more post on the Kavanaugh thing and then I'll keep it to /smg/ topic, although I believe this will have an effect on the midterm elections, and the midterm elections will definitely have an effect on the market trends.
Today during the hearing, Senator Lindsey Graham did one hell of a mic drop on the whole sham. It is a thing of beauty.
Republicans to gain seats in the midterms. Long the golden bull. That is all.
what are you? 12? nobody gives a shit here. Trade the fucking trade. political shit is for retarded people that are easily distracted by useless garbage. KYS
>SEC seems fraudulent to me. >much more than the chance that Elon is/was >I assume no one involved in the SEC has any friends that have any interest in TSLA. that would be illegal right?
>This is my speculation: SEC is under pressure from the shorts to do something. Elon and his lawyers insist he did nothing wrong. So SEC decided to go to the court. I will continue to save cash for the next buying opportunity.
Sebastian Lewis
That Recoome is an un-ironic upgrade from the original.
Its somewhat related though. The more divisive a midterm the more likely the market does well typically.
Anyway, tomorrow morning I expect about an hour of red followed by a gently rising trend for the remainder of the day on the major indices. Today's dump was as fake as the morning pump.
50% FB portfolio user here, up 0.95% today yee yee
David Gutierrez
> Today's dump was as fake as the morning pump. Noob here. What is this based on?
Connor Baker
no shit politics effects the market but trying to predict it is stupid as fuck. Trade the shit after it happens. You all going to gamble on it before it happens or are you going to trade the fucking price action after happens?
I sometimes forget this thread is full of newfags
Jayden Gray
no but me was very close T_T luckily me got control of self in time
I believe the market hit volatility based on a few things. It is uneasiness on the part of investors rather than a sincere opinion about the direction of the trend. Quick ups and downs because everyone is nervous but, at the same time, not confident of continued sell offs either. I have no source as this is just my opinion on the trading patterns of the day.
Xavier Hughes
politics is a waste of time. Trade the trade.
think you can predict shit over and over and you will see your portfolio at 0 in no time. Let me guess you been in the market for 1 year max?
Brody Bailey
A mod invented a "no gloat rule" out of thin air because of this very moment and has banned/deleted posts that called them out on their nonsense.
Camden Morgan
Lost about 20k before I learned to use a stop loss
>think you can predict shit over and over So every investment you've ever made isn't a prediction, but rather an objective future that you have some special insight into?
Elijah Morgan
So how did you do based on this observation?
Sorry to prod, I'm just super green and trying to see why people do what from as many angles as possible.
Matthew Foster
getting into a position in the anticipation of a political event is speculation not investing.
don't confuse buying a stock for an investment with buying a stock in speculation for a political event
You've moved the goalpost from. >politics is a waste of time to >getting into a position in the anticipation of a political event is speculation not investing. Understanding the political environment while investing is not a "speculation." Ignoring the political environment is willful ignorance, especially considering how intertwined the government is with the market. >don't confuse buying a stock for an investment with buying a stock in speculation for a political event Don't confuse mexican tranny cock as a better investment than your gf.
I would say trading solely on politics is one thing, but taking it as a single factor is just playing with all the information. For instance, tariffs are political.
Are there any public nuclear energy companies? IF we can nail fussion energy, that changes the game.
Jayden Rogers
>literally going to lose their money thinking they can gamble on political events GL kiddo. enjoy being part of the 90% of losers in the market thinking you can beat it.
buying before a politcal event is speculation. You are a complete newfag grim. we all know this. Trade the trade newfag.
Trade the trade. Who cares who president is? who cares what mid terms do?
Trade the upside. Trade the downside. Trade the trade.
Jack Gonzalez
Kavanaugh's appointment and the incoming red storm has been priced in for months newfren.
Today had a lot of small order movements on the stuff I was watching, especially the big blue chippies. Sporadic order movements on level 2 (this is the extended bid/ask ledger). Usually when I see that kind of thing in combination with economic uncertainty over tariffs, the fed's interest rate hikes, yes the upcoming midterm elections in the US, and so on, I interpret it as nervousness on the part of the markets. Things don't get short term grim until you see mass algo dumps like the kind that happened back in February.
So how many of you are underwater with GALT and ECR?
Brandon Russell
Because they don't put any substantial thought into trades and just fucking meme around. I work with the people who failed to save in life. Its fucking stressful as hell, all they have done is burn money and even when presented with a plan to save for their sorry broke asses they want to argue they can swing 12% on the stock market despite only losing money when they tried to play it for the past 34 years. These people are doctors, lawyers, engineers. Bright delusional idiots why refuse to exert effort in their investments or change their ways despite numerous longterm failures.
lol at this point im just waiting to get back to what i originally started with and dump all this shit and start over im in it for the long haul i keep telling myself its "gotta go back up eventually right?"
Ryan James
Youll probably make money
Isaiah Carter
I keep telling myself "I like trucks" unless I enter a larger position I don't mind if this is halved personally.

what do you guys think about putting money into India instead of VOO/VFF?
China ETFs are too volatile but India looks pretty stable.
Crazy how stupid some people are especially when they have such high degrees of education.
did i ever say they are the same?
you're holding onto SNAP and F expecting to break even? when? 10 years from now?
SNAP still has over 300million shares that have not hit the float. F has employee stock options that have been destroying the stock for years. You should really learn how to do DD
Mason Lewis
well i have other shit but i dont regulaly check them, whats dd im new to Jow Forums
Chase Brooks
>Such failure and negative returns
Spotted the big5guy, don't you have tranny's to invest in?
>never once said I was Big5guy I'm not part of this shitposting brigade right now, but if you aren't the big guy in the flesh I will fucking eat my own foot.
Isaac Thomas
>never once said i was Big5guy Well if course, your new trips have been for months now
But this is getting off topic, like a tasteful shot of your "calves"
Thomas Peterson
If you're investing in S&P 500 companies, the dividends they pay out will usually be fairly insignificant in comparison to the increase in stock value in bull markets, right? Obviously they could make a difference in a bear market in terms of preventing total losses, but aren't the dividends just something to show that you're a company worth investing in?
Tyler Thomas
Dividends have two purposes: 1. An Incentive to buy a stock because it isn't good enough on its won to draw investors 2. They literally don't have a better way to spend the money
