Learn to not answer your phonecalls or emails that are work related. Let this be a lesson
Jonathan Baker
Why did you even look at work emails on your day off? Are you actually retarded?
Dylan Ortiz
Do not listen to boss posters Do not respond to boss posters Do not allow notifications outside of work from boss posters Do not allow contact outside of work from boss posters
Try doing the same to your boss and see what happens. Find a better job - if they needed you that badly someone else will pay you more for the work you’re doing. Leverage the future job offer against your current boss. Give your leaving notice to your boss on their day off. Enjoy having the upper hand for a while, but respectfully decline your current boss’s tearful request that you stay. You’ve moved on, you say. You’ve found greener pastures. Oh, and you tried to make me work on my day off. Goodbye.
Jonathan Peterson
>No user, you can't work from home. We need you in the office every day of the work week >Hey user, I know you're scheduled to be off this week, but can you monitor emails and provide support if it is needed?
Joshua James
“No, sorry, I’ll be unable to do that. Perhaps [insert cuck here] could do it?”
Jaxson Hill
Bingo. Or you just ignore them. "Sorry, I was innawoods. I told you I was going to be there in the request three months ago, there is no reception there."
Accountant actually. The most wagecuck of the wagecucks.
Jaxson Walker
Why is it always the days I have off, everyone needs me..
Levi Wilson
Get a phone for work related shit and just put it off. Set in your e-mail clearly that your not working and for X contact person A and for Y person B.
You have to grow a pair.
It was funny thought that I was like you constantly being pushed over. Took me a 3 years before I man up . They didn't like it when I said NO for the first few times. They even threatend to give me a bad report in the hope I would accept their requests again (after 3 your laid off). I told them I would find an other job before they could written their report and I did.
Sounds like shitty planning on their part. Feel appreciated and don't look at your work media next time you have a day off. If you gave them your private number and mail, it's your own fault.
Henry Campbell
Wtf? Dont you have a union or something like that? HR would literally rip me a second asshole, if I even Show up on a day off.
Xavier Cooper
This is why you have at least 2 people cover each of your responsibilities if possible. If nobody else can cover you, then tell them to shut the fuck up and deal with it.
Gavin Hall
One word: B O U N D A R I E S If you don't set them EARLY ON, you're fucked. If you're on salary and you're doing over 8h, maybe 30 min over in an emergency you're doing it wrong. And thats coming from a software engineer who used to work in high pressure projects
Xavier Powell
Listen to this user. If management gives you a retarded deadline, work your hours. Not done on time? They fucked up, not you. A well-run company doesn’t have crunch time because crunch time is anticipated months ahead and the workflow is adapted to accommodate it. Then you have companies like mine where code is treated like magic elves make it for us in the night when it’s some poor cucked dev churning out lines until 3am, gets up at 5am and is back in the office by 8.
Logan Watson
In general: why seems the concept of getting paid for the overtime so alien to americans?
I have the possibility to chose between getting paid for my overtime (in addition to 10% tax free on top) or get additional paid days off. Both is fine for me and if someone calls me on my day off and I decide to answer the call, I get another bonus (also tax free) AND can chose to have another day off.
Because is completely right. Sometimes the employer cannot do anything about short hands (e.g. in highly skilled positions), but for people in e.g. logistics, the management is simply incompetent, if they cannot plan accordingly.
I personally dont care (BI-analyst/controller with advanced coding- & SAP-knowledge), as I can basically dictate my working conditions to any employer, but I personally prefer a strong baseline in the basic workers, as they tend to be way more accurate and dedicated, if they are tasked with something outside their field (which happens all the time in my profession).
Aaron Lee
>How else do you assure good working conditions?
By quitting and going to where good working conditions are already established. (USA)
Kayden Barnes
Day off
>turn work phone off >they call and email me on my private number >turn private phone off
Ethan Evans
Lets get serious for a moment, because this is what lets you end up with concentrated work force, long commutes, extreme rents and housing prices etc.
If you can make your working conditions better by forming a group within the group of employees, who can pressure the owner of the company into better working conditions, why is that considered a bad thing?
With empowered employees, you can achieve effects like an advanced learning curves, useful improvement suggestions, way higher willingness to work overtime (even, if it is not paid), less sick leave (because if they are sick, anyone else has to work overtime) and a truckload more benefits. So many problems solve themselves and productivity more often than not increases massively.
Ryan Brooks
It sounds like you have a bad job OP
Where I work your off days are basically sacred. We are open 24/7/365 and They'll have someone work a 12 so someone else doesn't have to come in on an off day, and will then turn around and let the poor sap who worked that 12 have a free half day at a later date to make up for it.
We have to have coverage and I understand that and because they let me have a half day to make up for any 12s they hand me its ok.
>"Hey, user, can you work a twelve on Wednesday? If you do you can work a half shift on your Friday and start your weekend early."
Benjamin Williams
Lol this is exactly what I do. Good to see more ERP and BI people on here.
Jonathan Adams
Always nice to read an associate here. Before 2017, there actually used to be quite many sophisticated people from all sectors and professions here on /biz.
It was before /pol came to lose their parents pocket money on internet coins. Good times, hope it goes back to what it was before - slow, but with quality posts.
Jesus Christ, this. Jow Forums used to be useful, entertaining and worth a damn. Now it's a cycle of useless fucking cryptocuck threads and other unrelated piece of shit threads. It's sad really. Used to be here everyday, now I visit once every 3 months and it's always the same.
Get another coworker to do it. If there is no one else competent to do it, you literally can just ignore them. You are too valuable to fire. It is a catch 22 for your employer, who is probably a shitty resource manager if he consistently (more than once a year) needs your help on your day off.

Jaxon James
Yep, I remember there used to be quality posts here-- like asset allocation threads, retirement threads, resume threads, ect. Now it is almost exclusively zoomers complaining about some existential crisis they are having or shilling of some absolute garbage shit coin.
I have faith that Jow Forums rolls in cycles just like the market and that, eventually, there will be high quality posts here once again. iHaz must return to spark the new genesis of Jow Forums.
Adrian Rivera
>calls from my boss Depends on what country you're in but in most countries this is actually illegal.
Lincoln Barnes
That guy had decent threads. I remember he posted an image from somewhere which demonstrated difference between poor and rich - especially in retirement. The poor relied mostly on social security/pensions or savings, the rich relied on assets, businesses, stuff that generated wealth instead of promises from gov/ companies. Really changed my perspective, if you're reading this, thank you.
Hudson Robinson
DIE IN A FIRE YOU MEGA CUNT
Dominic Hernandez
>The poor relied mostly on social security/pensions
Which is however not as bad as it sounds in many cases, if the pension is based on value. Also, social security (albeit never much) often prevents stuff like visible poverty (homelessness, signs of malnutrition and dilapidation etc.), which influences the prosperity of everyone negatively.
Ian Ramirez
autism confirmed??? just set ur email to autoreply saying its ur day off and ull b back tmrw
William Price
I'm not against social security, what I meant to say - the image made me think ahead and strive for more. It wasn't a single image or a thread on /biz but I seeked out to educate myself more (books, Jow Forumspersonalfinance, Jow Forumsfinancialindependence, Jow Forumsfatfire) Actually over the last three-four years I had quite a transformation in all aspects of my life - career, business, investment (stocks and crypto). If some 25 yr old faggot is reading this, it is not too late and money compounds faster than you think.
hey faggot, this board was made specifically because crypto was being discussed on Jow Forums. Fuck off to Jow Forumspersonalfinance.
Christian Brooks
Never worked a salary job so I can't say for sure but it seems relegated to those jobs. Every job I've worked in manufacturing they pay overtime and offer a lot of it if you want it. Making like $40 an hour.
Liam Rodriguez
Good to hear. I still fear, that 2017 will leave more of those libertarians lurking on /biz than before.
Joseph Morris
Even worse: >No, user, you have to drive in congested traffic to work to log into our servers that are in a data center over mile away from the office even though you can easily remotely access them from home through a VPN.
Ethan Martin
I think it is safe to say that you are smarter than the average MBA.
James Scott
>I think it is safe to say that you are smarter than the average MBA.
That is actually not far away from the truth. Have dealt with phds, who were the personified incompetence...
Because for decades companies and politicians convinced people that unions are bad for the regular man.
Colton Bennett
I don’t show up or anything. If I’m not getting paid and I wasn’t schedule for it, they can fuck off. I always have my resume ready and constantly searching for jobs.
People never wanted slavery to end and were even willing to commit treason over it. When they lost the war they shifted into brainwashing the general public into adopting as much of a slave mentality as they could.
Colton Rivera
Without BI people, homocide would be a common occurance in companies with ERP systems. Isolated solutions, different systems that are not being able to scale data for the next year, non-standardized reporting systems (often riddled with mistakes), unclear hierarchies and at the end, you always have the ego of the people.
(I admit however, that there are many gasbags in the field. Had to fix their mistakes many times, back during my days as a consultant. Never try to save money on this end...)
Seems to be an american problem then. Maybe a heritage from the McCarthy-era?
Jackson Myers
I was making a joke about bisexuals and erotic role playing.
Jayden Green
I don’t get it
Jeremiah Johnson
ERP = Erotic role play (Think lewd dungeons and dragons) BI = Bisexuals (People who fuck both men and women)
Noah James
this. If they ask they next they, you were at a family birthday or similiar which is "social" reasonable for them. If you tell "I was just relaxing and surfing net" they would be even more angry. Stupid logic, but I did the failiure and I learned my lesson.
Hudson Wright
You got me there.
Jace Morales
Maybe if you fell for the public accounting meme. I work for a private tech startp as an accountant making +$50k a year I work maybe 2 or 3 hours a day and take off early everyday imao.
Elijah Thompson
OP people actually made time to make a post for your situation. And now you don't reply anymore.
Please kys
Levi Morales
I agree, I might be a 29 year old boomer but pre 2017 was great, you could actually talk about actual business, economics, and big boy investing, i.e. trading stocks/bonds/commodities which aren't bipolar AF like crypto. I fully support the creation of a /crypto/ board so the adults can talk.
Jace Moore
good goyim, good. continue slaving away to make us richer while we subvert your country.
