The Future of Oracles TL;DR the oracle problem is solved. An end-to-end decentralized general-purpose oracle system basically exists for use today, in the form of Shintaku. While future research can surely improve components of the system (ask my old research group if they’re working on anything in this area if you’re excited about this stuff!), in large part the long-standing problem of getting external data for on-chain consumption is a solved one.
I expect improvements to things like on-chain general-purpose random number generation to be a hot topic in the coming years, which is something that, if done correctly, will be very useful for Athena/Shintaku-based oracles and a multitude of other decentralized applications.
Closing Thoughts With the oracle problem out of the way, my primary focus going forward is on scalability tools. First- and second-layer scaling solutions and tools have been under active research for several years, and I think it’s a very exciting area with lots of open questions. Some “experts” believe that the future of blockchain is in permissioned chains, and that scaling can be solved by trusting large corporations. Others, who actually know what they’re talking about, believe that scaling must be done in a decentralized manner—which of course makes things much harder.
Wasn't consensys talking about chainlink not too long ago? Now this post talks about a decentralized oracle called shintaku which they made themselves and act as if they never even heard about chainlink.
WTF

bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4748646.0 It took 1 guy 3 months to make what sergay and team of spegs 3 years to try to do, and they're not even finished. Linkfags eternally justed

And how can I get me some Shintaku tokens, frens? Will sell all my LINK for it.
Lmao bro it’s a fucking scam, they don’t have shit. The whitepaper, author, code and method of attaining tokens is sketchy as fuck. Hasn’t been updated in 2 months. I’m just joking, Chainlink is numero uno
>It turned out that, in the ultimate spirit of open-source, a community member had taken the system my group and I devised and implemented it! Linkies are DONE here!! Sergey BTFO'd once and for all.
I hope you're right user that someone just created this to FUD LINK or just outright scam people into investing without delivering
Brandon Turner
>all of this 100% confirmed, mainnet later this year or earliy next year, a working product almost at our finger tips, and yet when some phd student writes a whitepaper promising the moon everybody drops everything and panics
It doesn't matter if the "tech" is working. If you don't have the partnerships the network, the team, the companis behind you working with you for customized solutions that they will use, your oracles are irrelevant.
There is a fundamental misunderstanding of the Oracle problem on this board. If the OP were correct we'd all just buy Mobius. But Companies want custom tailored solutions with non autists working with them for full adoption, and there needs to be a network of hodlers to bootstrap the network.
Link having both Jow Forums and swift behind it means it already has won
The shintaku github is simply put, beautiful. It's officialy over marines.
Michael Bennett
Basically this guy has implemented Adler's solution for oracles that he presented at a conference. Adler has then written a Medium post stating that the oracle problem has been solved.
This may be one possible solution, however, Chainlink has been building infrastructure around their solution for years. They have the links, the expertise in business development, the broader vision.
The thing I really don't get though is how both Atler's Medium post and Kamiya's paper don't mention Chainlink or SmartContract. It is almost inconceivable for them not to be aware of it and particularly so as Kamiya includes an overview of both Oraclize and Augur.
Ryder Richardson
GOOD POINT BETTER FUD CHAINLINK INTO OBLIVION TO MAKE SURE THAT WE ALL MAKE IT
They know it’s inferior and they want to shill before chainlink hits overdrive . What partnerships do they have?
Benjamin Roberts
>Its clearly been posted much earlier but also just one post by this guy. What are the chances of him creating that article to shill his own project? It does seem weird: some unknown guy single-handedly creates something the chainlink team (backed by $32m and who knows how many partnerships/connections) can't in over a year? And this is the first time anyone has ever heard of this prodigy?
Still, stranger things have happened. Look at Bitcoin
Yeah, it's a big if. But what's clear to me is none of you have read the chainlink whitepaper if you believe that the autists at ethereum can just "code" up a solution to this problem.
Boomer tier legacy companies aren't going to trust decentralized Oracles without an extensive vetting process, extensive customization, extensive testing and bootstrapping, etc... They want their hands held to adopt, they want to see and trust something simple they can understand
Oracles are going to take many decades to get right and boostrap, there are many different types of data for many different purposes that need to be addressed independently and gain traction
t. MIT CS major turned prop trader turned crypto neet and link marine who understands what's going on and isn't autistic
>The thing I really don't get though is how both Atler's Medium post and Kamiya's paper don't mention Chainlink or SmartContract.
chainlink is one of the references in adler's whitepaper for his own decentralized oracle, astraea, so he definitely knows about it. if he's going to advertise decentralized oracles, the oracle problem, and more importantly his own project, why would he also mention his biggest competitor?

It looks to be like an "academic" implementation of Atler's work. It doesn't seem to have been promoted or put into use in any form.

And this is the first time anyone has ever heard of this prodigy? He's not a prodigy. The truth is very simple: chainlink began as a money laundering scam, but they got unintended attention and had to deliver 'something' to not make the scam too obvious. The actual problem is very simple.

>ChainLink [21] aims to provide a cross-chain portal to internet-available information i.e., data available on websites, through their centralized system.
Mm, a rather simplistic rendering of Chainlink though.

Do you think I'm god man? I'm accumulating heavily because it's a legit moonshot, but not even Von Neumann or ed Thorpe couldnt tell you what's gonna.happen.
What I'm fucking afraid of is the coming financial crisis, which I think will probably be worse than 1929. I don't know what companies are gonna survive and which ones aren't, if they're gonna give a shit about oracles and smart contracts when they don't have enough money to keep their lights on, etc ..
If market conditions stay the same I think it's only a matter of time.before link moons, but I'm mostly holding BTC and xmr and precious metals as insurance, which are all guaranteed moon missions eventually.
THEY TOLD WAGIES THAT INTERNET ANIME LOSERS WERE GOING TO GET RICH BY DOING NOTHING AND SHIT POSTING, THIS GOT THEM JEALOUS AND THEYRE STARTING TO FUD. BRACE YOURSELVES

JUST SAY A FUCKING NUMBER COMPUTER MAN STOP BEING SO DIFFICULT
Just because I'm good at math and programming doesn't mean I know, but admittedly theres a lot of wisdomt to this board reaching consensus, a lot.more than an average crypto trader could produce, because of the anonymity. Anonymity breeds truth. Biz was right with btc, eth, dgb, neo, etc... For a reason. Ideas go through lots of shit testing and selective pressure on this board, unlike cuck-Reddit where anyone who doesn't tow the line gets banned
Link is the one ticket I have to billions, and I believe 1k is actually possible eventually. Unlikely but possible. It's not gonna happen any time soon tho, there's too much tech to develop.
Also I will say mainnet won't lead to instant adoption, if you understand what's going on you know the Oracles they provide will have to be specialized on a case by case basis for different companies, data, rtc...
Lots of iteration ahead, I think mainnet results in a nice pump to 1-5 bucks tho. The biggest thing will be another btc bull market. Also there's a good floor of support since so many marines are accumulating
Jacob Martinez
>centralized system
and in incorrect one at that. if he thinks it's centralized that's almost certainly why it wasn't mentioned in his article on decentralized oracles.
Isaac Smith
>he doesn’t know that mainnet will reveal partnerships >he hasn’t seen the effect of crypto used in enterprises >he thinks only 1-5bucks
Seriously FUD HARDER. You will witness the biggest adoption / biggest fucking green candle that will write it self into history text books. They will have to Invent a new chart reading pattern called the right angle singularity boner. Get wet user get wet
