Yes, I agree that during the next recession, Australia will probably be hit worse than EU and USA. I'm pretty sure the next recession will be horrible for China and guess what, Australia is heavily dependent on exports to China. The housing market thing is a small issue compared to this. Nobody will even care about the real estate prices deflating when quarter of blue collar jobs suddenly disappear within the span of 1-2 years.
But, the recession will be over at some point and Australia will still be a first world country with shitloads of resources. They will be just fine in the long term.
