Liqueur Business

Managed to get my IT business up and running so I have more time to dedicate to some other shenanigans.

Anybody here got experience with distilling their own spirits, especially whiskey? Is it hard to distribute that stuff and make a profit out of it with small batches (2-10l) ?

inb4 laws n sheeit. Yeah let's keep those aside for now.

It's not incredibly hard to make. Making a profit however, is. If you live in a semi decent city no one will ever buy alcohol from a random autist, so the best bet is targeting alcoholics, but they won't be bringing in much money for obvious reasons. You decide.

one of my mates made a few triple reflux stills with computer controlled heating elements etc

used to use hot water systems to build them and he used to bang out about 100L a week on one system if i recall.

he'd water it down to 50% with distilled water and then soak woodchips (reclaimed barrels from whatever brand whiskey etc) or add flavouring.

used to be amazingly pure, no hangovers no headaches etc.

seemed like a good hobby, he'd sell it on the side to make money for other shit like go karts and boats etc

I am opening a distillery within the next year.
Good luck to you.

where are you doing it user?

100l is quite a lot. Would have to pay a lot of taxes over here for that.

I wouldn't feel good about drinking it unless it was tripple distilled and the faint was removed. There is a reason russian men live to 50 OP.

A quart of good corn whiskey goes for $20. That's about 2.5 lbs of sugar and 2.5 lbs of corn. So figure out how much sugar and cracked corn are going for in you area and go from there. You can make all types of whiskey's and rum's with stuff from your local feed store. Horse feed that is toasted oats, barley and molasses makes an incredibly smooth whiskey(make sure it doesn't have feed pellets in it first, its basically dog food).
