Reboiling water causes it to be more concentrated with contaminants like metals and minerals. When you boil, water escapes as vapor and leaves behind the heavy stuff (ie contaminants). Boiling the same water multiple times leaves you with less water, but the same amount of shit in it, making up more of the overall volume than before.
This is why proper purification takes the vapor off the top.

You’re getting more contaminants for the amount of water you’re drinking. Say we had 10 gallons of water that is 1% lead by volume. You pull a cup from it, it’ll be about 1% lead.
We boil it down to .10 gallons, something you could reasonably drink at once, it is no longer just 1% lead. It might be more like 50% or something.
You can avoid this by simply adding new water.
