Misteps such as the fork from the DAO, not implenting a hard cap after saying he would, his embarassing public statements, and now his decision to leave Ethereum. He has damaged Ethereum heavily and sees the writing on the wall. Obviously it is not his entire fault but he is fleeing his sinking ship after acting as captain. ICOs dumping mountains of Ether is severly damaging price and trust and the scaling solutions proposed seem to be stalled or no longer feasible. Ethereum classic is looking to be a smarter bet if you believe in the future of ethereum.

That is a good concern as coins on eos with the default contract are mutable. There are ways to achieve decentralized mutability (based on votes/etc) or immutability, but they are not ready or created yet.

No it's not baked into the protocol, it's part of the token smart contract you brainlet. The article you linked even shows you how to make it so that the tokens can't be touched by the devs, and any responsible exchange will not list shitcoins that don't follow that step.
