what really caused the 2008 financial crash the real answer is the Mexican drug cartels pulled their money out of the system following the Wachovia Bank money laundering scandal. When they dropped the hammer on their investigation they seized $110 million of “dirty money.” The cartels said “OK, if you want to be like that, you won’t get our money” and they stopped laundering their money through US banks. That dried up the liquidity in the system and caused the financial crash of 2008. At the height of the 2008 banking crisis, Antonio Maria Costa, then head of the United Nations office on drugs and crime, said he had evidence to suggest the proceeds from drugs and crime were "the only liquid investment capital" available to banks on the brink of collapse. "Inter-bank loans were funded by money that originated from the drugs trade," he said. "There were signs that some banks were rescued that way." Did drug money keep the banks high and dry? A little known but striking comment from the then executive director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime on how illegal drug money was the only thing that kept the banks afloat during the 2008 crash. Vienna-based UNODC [United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime] Executive Director Antonio Maria Costa said in an interview that drug money often became the only available capital when the crisis spiralled out of control last year. “In many instances, drug money is currently the only liquid investment capital,” Costa was quoted as saying Drug money saved banks in global crisis, claims UN advisor Drugs money worth billions of dollars kept the financial system afloat at the height of the global crisis, the United Nations' drugs and crime tsar has told the Observer. Antonio Maria Costa, head of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, said he has seen evidence that the proceeds of organised crime were "the only liquid investment capital" available to some banks on the brink of collapse last year.
You know that higher yields is the opposite of mooning, right? The market is down 25 basis points this week. Bad week to hold treasuries
Matthew Walker
Hows thta a bad thing? Doesnt that mean more money on your bonds?
Isaiah Harris
The chart you posted was bond yield, not bond prices. When bond yields go up the price falls and vice versa. So when bond yields skyrocket now the amount of interest people/governments have to pay skyrockets and the shit hits the fan
>You know that higher yields is the opposite of mooning, right? why?!
Kayden Rivera
Bond yields = how much money the bond pays / price
If price goes down, yields go up. Basically people are selling their bonds, causing yields to go up.

You say that Mexican drug cartels caused the crisis, but your evidence says they helped keep banks afloat during the crisis. Read a little more carefully man. The 2008 financial crisis was also certaintly not caused by drug cartels. It was mainly due to rampant lending and speculation of credit default swaps.

Bonds aren't variable rate. New bonds being created are now at these rates. They are increasing in rates because people are desperate for liquidity and will take on higher interest rates in order to stay solvent.
Fuck it's fucking saturday user jesus christ nothing is happening wait till monday to say this shit fucks sake wow.

what is that half a fleur-de-lys on its head?
Lincoln Murphy
>fleur-de-lys It represents Golden Lily , tied in with yamashita's gold... look it up.
Jeremiah Rivera
interdasting so how do you tie it all together?
Matthew Parker
well you see that the Golden Lily is the bird itself... and the coin is just an external factor.. just a necklace. The coin itself isn't the phoenix. you see? But the phoenix is holding the coin up, it supports the coin.
So, tying it together based on what I can see, with minimal research, is that yamashita's gold or maybe just gold in general will back whatver coin is on the phoenix's neck. could be completely wrong i should probably research it more.
>bond yields skyrocketing wait for it, this will rise even further and then all money from stocks will move in when it's about time for the next big short (hint dow at 30k, nasdaq at 10k)

>The spike in US long-term bond yields overnight to their highest level in more than seven years says something positive about the current state of the US economy while also hinting at the threat to the sustainability of Trump’s economic boom.
source: some australian webzine or something, it's in the top 5 results if you type "bond bubble". there's virtually nothing on this in terms of panic, and barely even anything acknowledging it at all.
Benjamin Perez
the less its talked about, the worse its gonna be

Sold for what? Us dollars? If the collapse comes it will be because no one wants dollars anymore.
Cameron Lee
I don't want dollars anymore. You think I want to raise a child here? Sure, its not a shithole, its not like I'm moving to Mexico, but living your life as an American Citizen means always paying American taxes no matter where you are. You sign your child up for that even though there are no guarantees of basic human rights, and other country's benefits now outweigh American benefits.
Most importantly I no longer feel safe in this country because everyone is so on edge and ready to fight each other. the economic inequality is bad enough for people to march 3 miles over to the nice neighborhood and riot. This will shut down airports and most businesses making it impossible to keep your own business running or leave for another country. This is why billionaires are building their bunkers in New Zealand and not the Rocky Mountains. North America as a continent might be safe, but millionaires and billionaires are no longer safe in the US. do you think they still want dollars even though they're jumping ship before it sinks?

Its the same cycle thats been happening for hundreds of years. Capitalism appears and allows a few to get rich and for a while they do a decent job of keeping the scales balanced but as time goes on the balancing act gets harder and harder to maintain. Then the house of cards collapses and a revolt happens that gives way to communism or anarchism.
See October revolution and french revolution. Also Rome. All the same thing. Over and over and over again.
Matthew Taylor
Right now bankers are sitting in there houses in NYC talking about the Supreme Court vote. They all know there is something coming but they don't know from where. The Bond market has been a source of concern for awhile now and if this is it...get fucking ready.
Ryder Peterson
>columbus day oh i forgot. are we about to enter a new world porbbaly not.
Nicholas Hughes
I dont think you have to worry about the liberals. They arent real communists. In fact i have strong reason to beleive they are the result of a massive psyop by the CIA to discredit any genuine communist movements. They want to make communism appear unattractive to poor rural whites so they can force them under the trump umbrella. You dont actually think wealthy california liberals want communism do you? Lol. Not a chance. What they want is freakshow capitalism. They are more concerned with the gender of whos running a company than the company itself.
Tyler King
What are you? Retarded? You buy new bonds now and sell them second hand when the bond market is crashing in a few years. The payments and the price of the sale will put you over the top.
Elijah Hill
I'm just going to get out of debt. Save every penny and move to some Asian fishing village. Fish all day and lurk, hope the mercury and toxic waste dumping doesn't get me before a tsunami or some shit. Either that or move to an island off the coast of scotland and become a Shepard.

That means the cost of servicing debt is going up. Poor people live pay check to pay check maxing out their credit. If their monthly minimum payment goes up where will they get the money to pay it? Think about the US Debt and our exploding deficit.
Camden Rodriguez
China comes back on Monday. Shits fucked.

When times get bad, capital first moves from risky investments (asia, lower tier markets, etc) to "safe" ones (US companies, USD). So before shit hits the fan you can make some gains by going into USD. Thank me later.
“Leverage is near all-time highs, and companies used tax reform proceeds for buybacks instead of paying down debt,” said Max Gokhman, head of asset allocation for Pacific Life Fund Advisors, which manages $40 billion. “More than triple the debt that came due in 2018 will be due each year from ’19-’21. If yields go up, there’s real concern about companies’ ability to reissue and keep their leverage.”
