If you were given $200K a year but forced to live in either downtown New York City or downtown LA for 300 out of 365 days of the year; which would you choose?

NYC, you have to drive everywhere in LA and the traffic sucks.

$200k in LA is okay as long as you don't mind commuting on your bike and living in the van.
and you can forget about NY

NY winter is COLD, LA no cold, never

$200k per year in NYC? You’re deluded if you think you wouldn’t be very well off

You're a pussy
Winter is great
And you get to wear fashionable clothes

Dowtownla hands down, maybe I’m biased since I live there. Assuming you work in Dtla or nearby everything is walkable and metro is effective for short rides. Also can’t beat the weather , New York is a humid hellhole several months of the year. Another pro of Dtla is the car traffic dies on the weekends so you have it to yourself mostly. The only shitty part of Dtla is the homeless, manlets, ciclavia blocking a street and liberals protesting every time they lose.

>winter is great

yeah sure is great to live somewhere it's 10F for 6 weeks straight you can't hang outside let alone leave the house

nyc summers are humid hot garbage too. 90F and 50% humidity for 2 months straight

NYC. Downtown LA is shit and all of LA is shit.

LOL LA is a shithole. The only people that think its cool are non natives. Absolute brown water trash.

I would choose NYC but spend my 65 days from December 15th - February 18th in Thailand.

Los Angeles duh

just drive 15 minutes to Santa Monica and swim at the beach all day

NYC is for women and numale hipsters. Only good if you're into

>Fashion
>Arts/Theater
>Banking
>Nightlife (Bars/Clubs)

Any other reason just stay away. It's too crowded, the parts that aren't complete shitholes that people get shot in are running $2000/mo minimum, you can't own a car, you'll never own a house here unless you pick up a 2-3 hour total commute that costs $3-500 a month extra (either commuter train/bus or driving in), and it's just too expensive to live in. The subway sucks and gets worse every year, city/state govt is painfully bloated and overpaid (awesome pension if you're in I'll admit). It's either way too cold or way too hot here, and you won't have hobbies unless they're the same as every insufferable yupster in the area (drinking or arts). Also zero second amendment rights, shit you'll get thrown in jail for having a boxcutter on you. Its a police state for good/bad reasons.

On the plus side too our city/state unis are the cheapest in the nation. But who cares about going back to school if you make 200k a year.

LA at least has easily accessible racetracks and canyons, and year-round nice weather (great if you like motorcycles or cars). It's still a hellhole but the scenery makes it better.

NYC

Downtown LA is a dump.

i honestly can not think of why anyone would want to live in LA it is a shithole

shant be doin that

They are both shitholes, but at least the weather is nice in LA

That's why NY > LA , fool
Winter and fall are super comfy.

i like NYC.....LA esp downtown looked like a nuke/zombie/culturally enriched area.

>can't leave the house
lmao you boring fuck

>hunting
>hiking/fishing
>hot tubs
>snowmobiling
>snowboaring/skiing
>ice skating

I feel for those who can't enjoy snow and cold weather. I also never said I lived in NY, I used to work there and am plenty aquatinted to summer time while in a suit, it sucks. Never said it was perfect. I used to live in Cucknecticut, now I live in Utah.

>boring fuck

lol fuck going outside when its that cold, you end up just going from one bar to another like a fucking loser. the cold just seeps into your bones after a while staying outside.

all of those activities require you to drive 90 minutes out of NYC and can be done driving 90 minutes out of LA, too. that's the nice part about LA, you can have mountains, beaches, desert, inner city, and forests all within a hour drive.

I would choose not to take the money.

I was born and raised in NYC. Born in the bronx, lived in queens in HS, and then college in the city...Now I live and work in LA. I can say with experience that both cities have become complete garbage post 2012. Its become a millennial cesspool.....and not the normal everyday working guys, the kind you want to killl in their sleep and drown their GFs

I already live in nyc so I’d just take the 200k and keep doing what I’m doing

LA reminds me of one big Long Island down to the sprawl with nicer scenery and way more Mexicans and hobos. Am I wrong? And yes, the millennial yuppies make me want to murder here.

I literally only want to move to LA for the canyons and racetracks and being able to enjoy my hobbies round-year vs April/May -> October/November. I'm in Queens.

>rags

I'm about to move to nyc why the fuck is the rent so high. more than 2k a month for anything

NYC

Yeah, thats exactly what it feels like to me too. My GF wanted to move here for work so I figured why not....The hiking trails are the only thing that makes living here tolerable. Also the food is such shit...that I lost 30 lbs in 4 months (no bread/pasta/pizza). I'm not sure if that is a positive or negative for LA.

Cause the Chinese are buying all the condos in manhattan to hide their money and no one is living in them. The rest uf us had to scrounge around the remaining boroughs to find decent places to rent.

Try the bronx or queens (along the R Line). Dont touch BKLN cause the trains will be fucked till 2020.

Know any decent places in Brooklyn?

Shit. I'm trying to save commute time since I might be working lower manhattan

NYC. I'd save a ton of money on transportation/insurance and not being stuck in traffic all the time. Plus I'd get two months out of the year to go innawoods and get my bearings back.

I'm in Jackson Heights, neighboring apartments are $1600-1800 a month while my mom and I pay $1100/mo ($500/mo from me).

The issue too is that we have a ton of illegals driving up rent (hence why rooms are going for $600-1000 never mind whole apartments) + landlords being able to be picky assholes due to the demand giving unreasonable demands until they find tenants willing to do dumb shit like sign away all their rights in the lease + give first months rent, last months, security, and some extra money on the side just for a lease.

Sunset Park or Bay Ridge. Just anywhere along the D and R lines.

Lived in NYC for 2 years and have been on LA for 9 years now. 200k is poverty in Manhattan. Downtown LA is a shithole that nobody wants to live in but it’s being gentrified since LA Live and all the zoomer developments. Currently live in the Marina if I have to live in downtown LA I could do that. For 200k I’m definitly staying in LA. Unpopular opinion LA>NY. Manhattan is the best city on earth period but it’s best in smaller doses. LA is the center of narcissistic universe but the weather is great, it’s cheaper and if you look hard enough you can find good everything.

If you think 2,000 a month is expensive you clearly have not been to LA or California.

Pay somebody else $75k a year to live in LA for me and then take the rest to the Columbia river valley

NYC. Not sure how much money I'd have left over if I had to live downtown though. What's a livable apartment cost? $5k/month?

LA
>worst traffic in North America
>pay for parking wherever you go
>dirty as shit, graffiti, litter, and a fuck load of homeless people
>God awful air quality
>overrun with illegal spics
>is a city filled with disingenuous, egotistical star-fucking assholes, that are the biggest flakes and would throw their mother under the bus for a modicum of fame.
>fines you for using too much water
>is still in Commifornia

Not even a question, NYC. More shit to do, better food, and hotter and smarter women.

This is the correct answer. LA is a shithole, I can’t believe there’s even an argument for being remotely near that wasteland. NYC is nig nog central but better than fucking LA.

NYC vs SF, not NYV vs.LA, but NYC would still win

NYC vs. London or
NYC vs. Paris
NYC vs. Tokyo
are better comparisons

This LA is such an overpopulated shithole. NYC is better in every way except for weather.
