Interview clothes

Got an interview coming up and they specifically told me I can dress "smart casual". Would a sweater+shirt and jeans be OK? I have like no clothes.

also it's fucking 4 hours long wtf

software engineering job (sort of)

no jeans unless they're really dark and have a sharp fit. is it vneck sweater? if so wear a collared shirt underneath. don't forget a fucking belt (should match your shoes).

Dress in a suit.

You need to show the interviewers that you take the interview seriously and to make it seem like you know how to act in a professional environment.

it's a scam, don't go.

think about it, don't think about things you think you're supposed to be doing, think about what this company, or rather, this person is asking you to do for them. it's wrong and you shouldn't go.

Sweater shirt and jeans could be OK, it all depends on what shoes you pick to tie it all together.

dont do this. i thought i had to do this in my first interview and ended up in a pool of my own sweat while being interviewed by a bunch of people in t shirts and shorts.

i did get the job though. and every other person my age that showed up for an interview in a suit afterwards, looked like a fucking baby wearing their dads suit.

anything without big flamboyant prints are fine then
dont wear sweatpants though

It is a v-neck. Don't really have jeans like that, guess I'll buy some trousers.

But they said they have a smart casual dress code and that I can wear the same. Why even bother saying that if they want me to wear a suit? If anything it might seem like I can't follow instructions if I wear a suit (it wasn't an explicit instruction, but still).

post pics. also kys

honestly op i worked in a place and they would judge you on how you reacted to the idea of smart casual. if me i would go with khakis and a nice polo. it is casual wear to some. suit and tie may not be a bad idea but maybe instead of tie suit coat and dress shirt with out a tie. smart casual means so many things that it is hard to get an idea exactly. what i would do is this, am i comfy enough in these clothes for 4 hours. GL

smart/business casual means different things with different companies. your best bet is to avoid jeans and go for some khakis instead. a sweater with a collared shirt underneath is fine, the most important part should be that you make sure your belt matched your shoes

Get a suit and then get it tailored for you, jackass.

It makes you look like a millennial dweeb to dress in a sweater and jeans to an interview. It projects youth and inexperience. You don't want to seem like the guy that 'could work for them' you want to seem like the guy who they should make an offer before someone else does. If you insist on not doing a suit, the standard advice is to dress one level above the standard for the company, so at least a dress shirt and pants and a sweater to hide the inevitable sweating.

Yeah

Make sure you also look him in the eyes and give him a firm handshake.

Follow your leader

full Ross

don't wear jeans, go to J Crew and get some of pic related
Obviously don't wear shoes like that, just go with some decent white sneakers or leather shoes. You're probably gonna look like a lumpy retard in your sweater because I bet it's from JC Penny or somewhere similar. Just spend a couple hundred on some decent clothes you nigger

sorry, I changed the image. Shoes like that would probably be fine.
Pic related is an example of a cheap sweater that will just look shitty and should be avoided.

Alright, I think I'll just wear a suit. I'll probably need to get one for future interviews anyway.

Get some normal trousers, a shirt and some sweater can do fine.

No suit, period. If you are not used to it it will show. Normal trousers and a shirt, long-sleeved if possible. It will do fine.

get a white shirt and a tie with some dark/navy pants and casual shoes

Wear a suit. You can buy a fucking suit at JCrew it banana republic for like 200 dollars and have it tailored. Is 200 dollars for additional security in getting a job a lot? If so consider kys.

>t. wears shit suits made of polyester or lined with polyester

"A suit" is smart casual; wear a more casual fabric and pattern, drop the tie and opt for a pocket square. Or just wear a dress shirt and pants, not denim though. You want to look like you're headed out on a date not headed to a funeral.

Do research before buying or you'll end up with something solid black, made of plastic and that fits like a canoe. A solid dark-ish blue or subtle checkered grey is a good choice. I'm assuming you're a clueless retard here but sorry if not.

Don't forget the firm handshake.

>wagecucking in 2018
Still, have you thought about hanging around that place during lunch or break hours? Scout what the people actually working there are wearing as they enter and leave the building

Torn jeans, hoody with stain on, baseball cap worn backwards for maximum effect.

I would say dockers and a button down dress shirt.

Wear a dress. That way you can sue the employer for being transphobic if you don't get the job. Win Win

>tfw you're supposed to dress for an interview in a specific way
>tfw there's a dress code

Who the fuck even cares about clothing n shit?
Is it a pageant, so employers treat candidates like escort whores? When tf this became acceptable? Most office drones don't even work with clients and juts silently wagecuck in their cubicles, so wtf

It shows that you can out in the effort, for the sake of showing you can put in the effort.
It's what employers like to see in wagecucks. A willingness to bend over to please without asking too many questions.

Based and redpilled

Fucking useless wagecuck slaves, get off my fucking board.

Wear a polo (neutral colors)
Khaki pants
A belt with clean sneakers
And make sure to tuck your shirt in and shave your face (or pussy if female) before interview

sweater and jeans is smart casual user
sweater with khakis is good too

most people worth knowing work before achieving freedom

>software """engineering"""
make sure you're wearing skinny jeans. also it wouldn't hurt if you bleached your hair. no, really--that's what I did and they hired me
