Timmy Boi

Is Tim Ferris full of shit, or legitimate? His ideas from 4 Hour Work week seem like outdated (2007) garbage (drop shipping).

Basically garbage. He's there to get you to buy stuff, he doesn't really care if it works

stopped readin half way.
business books alone wont help you make it aftera all

By just glancing from his other books, he's a networking god with useful knowledge in all fashionable and relevant topics

He has good talks and interview but ask yourself:
Do you really think Tim works 4 hour weeks?

youre fucking dumb if you think 4hrs a week of work is going to do anythying for you in life

Tim ferris made a business off of "teaching" others how to run a business.

AKA he is a snake oil salesman

He interviews interesting people, but he's probably a brainlet like Rogan (or worse he's just a salesman). His interview with Nick Szabo is quite great for a beginner understanding cryptocurrency.

Bro almost all that self-help success shit is snake oil garbage. It has no proof or scientific backing. They sell you all this advice and if it doesn't work for you they are 100% not accountable in the least.

Thanks for the input Jow Forums, confirmed what I was thinking.

Although I will say in his defense his book isnt' all wuwu bullshit, he makes good points about communication and being effective

lol, that book is just right in front of me.
I'm in around page 30.

How do you plan on procuring scientific proof for social science prescriptions?

He's an assclown that makes money off of nitwits who don't realize their failures in life are due to their low IQs. That's why he's so popular with the Joe Rogan crowd.

its outdated for 2018 but a lot of his tips worked back in the early 2000's-2012 when competition was still low. right now the most useful advice from 4hww is to eliminate time-wasting and useless info. this is his info-diet idea. but most of us are too addicted to the chans to get the fuck off this digital shrimp-farming forum to ever apply that. the division of Jow Forums users is basically the same as the world: most are poor/broke but there's a few rich neets here who can afford to blow an afternoon shitpoasting.

> eliminate time-wasting and useless info
damn. revolutionary

who do you recommend reading instead?

damn the nostalgia

fuck i want my toys back

Who is better to read than Ferris?

Dumping Nostalgia until I get some good suggestions.

He teaches the Boomer Secret to mass audiences (how to delegate work to Indian workers and earn money by basically doing nothing - while everyone else thinks you're super busy because you never answer their calls or emails).

what the fuck do you want to read, give specifics on what you're looking for. if you just want simple self-help but in Jow Forumsness terms then say it. the best books i've ever read were by nassim taleb. he basically called the 2008-2009 financial panic. his book goes all over the place though. he covers all sorts of topics, that you can think about and apply to self-help and business.

for example, convexity. never buy at a top. he proves it mathematically using risk and also stories. risk-reward. you never want to invest in something when the potential downside risk outweighs the potential upside reward. just look at what's going on with stocks and shitcoins right now. anyone who bought *after* big pumps got rekt. taleb covers that.

if you want basic "HOW TO START A BUSINESS" shit then there's tons of free info on websites. go check out noah kagan (he's a jew tho). basically his advice is to build a simple business around solving a problem, and do small tests until you can prove profitability, then scale. it's all easy to say but actually finding that uncrowded niche is the hard part.

This.

I use the info in his TED talks on learning languages, meditation and reading faster. Has helped.

Just watch this summary of "the one thing".

Helped me. And it's only 1hr+ of your time. Not an open-ended effort like with other "gurus".

He makes money through advertising, he gets paid by advertisers for pageviews, he gets page views by peddling clickbait memes and trading readers with other people who do the same thing and talk about related stuff. There you go, that's his business model. It obviously works.

Cheers, do have "fooled by randomness" by Taleb. Not read it yet.

General advice liek this though is appreciated.

I run my own ecom business and got a sizeable Invetsment in $KIN but looking to really branch out into quality resources.

Alan Watts is a G.

Thanks

If all you got out of Taleb's books was "Don't buy the top of the market" you should reread them, and try paying attention. That said he's one of the most important thinkers of our time and Incerto will change your opinions on ethics, risk taking, finance, statistics and decisions under uncertainty.

yeah. iirc, he said black swan is basically a revamped/updated version of FoR

i didn't say he invented the idea of not wasting time, but he surely did help popularize it through his re-phrasing as "info diet".

that's not all i got out of his books, just one example of something he says that's relevant to Jow Forums. self-improvement stuff like barbell and hormesis is what i apply most often.

basically, big picture is if you want to do well in life, you have to be in good health (of body and mind). one thing you must do is get enough sunlight. how much is "enough" depends on your skin color and melanin level. next is diet and exercise. eat garbage and you're not feeding your brain, which makes you dumb, which leads to bad decisions. doesn't matter what book you read, if you're not eating, sleeping and exercising correctly, and not getting enough sun, you're not gonna make it.

based

It’s sad how going bald made him go from a 9 to a 3. He should just wear a wig.

>Do you really think Tim works 4 hour weeks?
He's been actually asked about that and his reply was literal garbage.

Get this: he says that he does work 4 hour weeks because *snort* the rest of the things he does he doesn't CLASSIFY as WORK.

What a bunch of horseshit, eh?

you gay

the core premise of 4HWW is that he built a "muse business" that generated passive income. then he reinvested his initial profits into outsourced workers in 3rd world countries who would do the actual work in parallel with each other, whilst Timmy Boi just manages the tasks, checks their work, etc.
i didn't read the book but gleaned the basics from watching his vids, reading his site, etc. during the 2005-2007 period.

for what it's worth i worked at various "internet marketing" companies and they operate along the same principle, meaning they hire people in the US to manage SEO tasks sent out to faggots in SE asia to do. the owners at the top then micro-manage the people they hired here in the states. basically picture a pyramid with the owners/founders at the top peak, and middle managers in the middle, and wagies near the bottom. at the absolute bottom are pajeets and filipinos who do graphic design and link building tasks paid at around $3-$5 per hour.

the only question you should ask and find out about these people:

how rich were they before they wrote or sold their first "guide" or seminar on how to get rich/work less/whatever

basically his advice is to build a simple business around solving a problem, and do small tests until you can prove profitability, then scale.
So basically The Lean Startup? Just read the actual book instead of listening to a kike guru parroting it.

Yes.

4HWW is best now read not as a howto but general ideas about how to use your bizdev time better. It was a big idea at the time and easily accesed but nothing new. Ferris is a great marketer and if you dig into how he marketed 4HWW and built his brands you will learn as much from his book.

One of my favorites.
His advice is relatively actionable compared to most business books (not as motivational aka sleezy)

I originally was falling for the 40 hour wage slave meme before I read it so at least my eyes are opened to the possibilities of traveling while working on a business. Tim Ferris could certainly have done the 4 hww if he wanted but he’s a workaholic.

TLDR it’s a winner imo along with fastlanr millionaire. Also as some perspective I only read Robert kysoki and tony Robbins for about 5 mins before I closed the books in disgust.

Tim made a bit of money selling some bs supps on amazon and then wrote a book about it. He lies constatly about the "nootropics" he takes and everything he puts out is utter BS

>never buy at a top
Wow fucking deep

absolute Boomer fake hippie faggot

All this self-help faggotry is a pile of shit. THERE ARE NO SHORTCUTS. Literally just take care of yourself, treat others right, and put in work. DO shit when it needs to be done, plan ahead. You can throw hours of time into looking for "the key" and you won't find anything. There is no key.
