2. The smaller, independently owned porn sites aren’t big enough to make a dent on Wall Street and the owners want to keep all the profits without all the headaches that come with being a publicly traded company, like having to report to the SEC and keep detailed files on everything.

Private.com used to be. Did not go so well. Also, porn companies do not NEED so much cash. It is not like they have large R&D costs. And sites aren't interesting. It is who controls the traffic that makes the money. Fabian Thylmann that revolutionized the industry with NATS and buying all those tube sites, sold his entire holding for 8 figures. But then he controlled and owned just about everything for a while. So if the biggest industry guy on the planet is only worth 10 million+, the industry is not that interesting.

They don't have enough startup costs to need capital investment. Because their profitability and costs are closely associated in time and space(hosting costs and site visits) they don't need to build out infrastructure or do substantial development.

Effectively its very easy to build them as a private concern. Why bother with stockholders if you don't have to. Especially if your not very public image friendly.
