>I'm new to the stock market, what stocks should I buy? Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks, and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.
Ding ding ding! How did everyone do this week? I had another day too busy to trade. I got promoted at work but I wish I hadn't since now I have to work longer hours and can't trade effectively. I also got a new computer so we're going to a different Romano's, hope it's not too jarring for some of you.
That was a fucking week and a half. Currently holding a few SPY calls and 300 put contracts on TLT. When that TLT hits 100 next week, I'm cashing out and going on vacation to Italy to go stick my dick in pasta pussy.
Thomas Adams
many people are probably understanding for the first time why the market closes and are happy for it kek
Jackson Stewart
Made a lower high and a higher low today. Consolidation day, but not clear whats going to happen monday.
The Russell is still down.
Hudson Cooper
Green day, red week Feels bad man, I had no cash to buy dips
Did just fine, tbhfam. Just fine indeed. The dude weed was most profitable today. Hopefully a consecutive green day on Monday will occur. We'll see. Weed remains bullish even under all this market hysteria but it is curtailing the gains somewhat. Things get questionable after October 17th; nobody knows if there is going to be a mass sell off, or whether the recent market stuff chilled out the bears sufficiently to the point that sell off isn't necessarily the most logical course of action.
Pretty curious how this plays out. The dude weed is full of surprises.
Two notable things in my weed portfolio from close yesterday and close today. HVT completed a double bottom at support yesterday and closed above this afternoon. Breakout price for Monday is 0.82, support remains 0.76.
More interesting was RIV. According to my meme lines, it broke out of descending channel today. Pic related.
now that the dust has settled WHY THE FUCK WAS BIZ FREAKING OUT THIS WEEK
Ryder Thomas
Well goy, SPY is down: -3.77% this week -4.01% this month .-78% in the last 3 months In addition, papa powell will continue to raise rates until probably the end of Q2 next year It was a rather eventful week
Alexander Russell
Jow Forums freaks out about everything. Markets up, freak out we're all gonna make it. Markets down, invest heavily in kneepads with remaining cash (if any).
Ryder Williams
Down $1500 since last Friday (6%). GOD GRANT ME STRENGTH. I didn't panic sell, but the urge to do so was intense.
YOU GUNNA SUCK SOME DICK EUROPOOR (or you can go back to Romania where cost of living is cheaper)
Daniel Rivera
Funniest thing yesterday and a little the day before was some leftypol leakage claiming the end is surely nigh this time and the donald has surely done us all in now for real this time any day now dark ages coming back world wars and new strain of treatment resistant bubonic plague will emerge etc etc.
Charts are pretty uncertain. It could be a flat or mild red. After first couple hours the trend of the day will emerge and you can make a more informed decision then. The drop is not necessarily over. On the positive side, there are several quarterly earnings reports due next week, many of which are expected to meet/exceed expectations. That is the primary reason why I believe the downturn in a momentary blip and not a signal of catastrophe. Pretty well same scenario as February, same reasons for initial dump, probably same reasons for recovery.
Liam Morales
No, the bond trend can't be reversing, the FED needs to dump more bonds, so I can win Eternal Bear's contest.
Liam Moore
Bonds are being heavily shorted Baggy If uncle Powell gives in to Emperor Trump, the resulting short squeeze will be epic
Nathaniel Price
I know they're heavily shorted, some asshole has like 3.5 million riding against my puts.
Elijah Cook
yeah hoping to make some call plays cause of the 'expectations to beat', but wait for the monday adjustment first
anything you have your eye on? myself, Dominoes
Jackson Bennett
Still trading the dude weed until I get a convincing signal to pull out. RIV broke descending channel today. I'm very bullish on that one for next week.
Here is updated SPY for today. Still outside lower bband. Still oversold.
im thinking about leaving td/tos for robinhood until i have more cash to cover commissions. I'd loaded 2k into it and made about 160. any advice on being poor and trying to trade on tos while getting dicked by their commissions? thanks desu
Hunter Allen
Commission free ETF if they offer. Patrician method is to get your data from TD and execute on robinhood. Save some bux
Really handy, they cover pretty much everything you need. Leveraged ETFs aren't on the free list, so I try and buy in large chunks (once a month) to cut down on commissions, so It's only like 2-3%
It's worth it to me to pay the fee because I actually hold and make money Robinhood feels like a gambling app, and I've done much better without it
reminder that this month is gonna be some crazy shit and if you think this is over you can cap this post to look back on when the wojacks are flowing
Grayson Murphy
I'm waiting for a big fall next week and then start loading some into vsatx or a healthcare etf.
Ryan Perez
>oh free etfs, how cool! >no comission there must be a catch >looks at expense ratio ah there it is.
Mason Fisher
Vanguard has free etfs with lower expenses.
Juan Peterson
It's bargain shopping time t bh.
Lucas Nelson
SPY chart looks like it's headed some consolidation around current levels first before any continuation. Reenter bollinger band range, get out of oversold conditions, then break up or down for the next wave. I don't anticipate further huge moves in either direction until end of next week when several quarterly financials are out.
Important support level for SPY is ~$268. That is my projected bottom for this panic if that is indeed the direction the wind is blowing. Drop below that is trouble. Holding above confirms minor pullback status and nothing of concern (meaning hodl).
Blake Thomas
You aren't doing better because you have a different broker, you're doing better because you're more experienced and are making more responsible decisions
Lincoln Murphy
>Robinhood feels like a gambling app, and I've done much better without it I use Robinhood (for now) but I can totally see what you mean. It's easy to click the various histories and think something like, "It's done nothing but gone up all year, better invest so I can make some money!" if you're not experienced.
Samuel Myers
I'm thinking of switching from my broker to rh because of the free trades... My question is if I plan to trade leveraged etfs in rh, when i buy and sell in the same day, do they consider that cash? My current broker allows me to do this immediately without waiting for any settlement
Asher Russell
I wonder, is it possible to get IV crushed on a vix option?
Nolan Perez
yes, why wouldnt it be?
Nathan Ross
Of course, I was checking out the IV on them earlier today and it seems like they're all 100+ ffs
Eli Phillips
Learning the in's and outs of interest rates is the first step, credit dependent companies are the ones being dropped right now.
Sebastian Johnson
Why do people in this general get so emotional over short term price action? Anyone with any experience trading stocks knows that being emotional costs you money.
Are USLV and UGLD doing a reverse split or something? my account is going wacky like when UVXY did it.
Nathan Garcia
When TLT goes to below $100 by the end of the month you can all blow me.
Daniel Phillips
IV crush just means the options are worth less because their implied volatility went down (actually the causal relationship is the other way). It's not tied to earnings.
