You need to find a way to get a good amount of sun still or else you will be severely depleted of vitamin d
Sleep at least 7 hours straight.
t. 3 year wagezombie.
Want to take your sleep VERY seriously. Want to get on as regular a schedule as you can. Want to make your room for sleeping pitch dark. More tips here webmd.com
Also, can look at supplementing vitamin D. Anecdotal evidence is that you want to do that right when you wake up, because it seems that it can also harm your sleep.
May want to look into getting a daylight lamp like the ones they use for seasonal affective disorder in extreme latitudes. Want to get LOTS of blue light when it is time to be awake and AVOID blue light when you are ready to be going to bed.
Bartender. been working nightshifts for 10 years, ever since I could legally serve booze.
I dunno what the secret here is for health. You exist in a different reality then most. Seeing doctors, normal tasks become difficult. Your friends are typically limited to people in the same field. I can see why the majority are drunks - you have to be social for 35 hours a week, usually the booze is cheap or free. It's draining, and afterwards, spending time with more people seems like more work. I can see why people like me move to Las Vegas. They have 24hr dentists, 24 hr everything. I am a leaffag, so we're pretty limited on what is 24hrs compared to the USA.
Anyway, things I do -
- Vitamins.
- Cycle, walk places. Join a 24hr gym if you can.
- On your days off, make sure you catch at least some sunlight. Force yourself to go out, even if it's by yourself.
- Avoid eating huge meals before you sleep. Personally, makes me sleep in later.
What job are you going in for OP?
Cortisol levels will likely be much higher but I doubt you actually give a fuck what this will do to you desu so I won’t expound.
Taking supplements won't help?
Kind of jelly of graveyard shift workers.
I am an accountant wageslave so work office hours but something comfy about driving in the pitch black to wageslave, roads free from NPCs, little human interaction.
nightcager here. Its okay. Just dont change your sleeping cycles, it will mess you up. Im able to get some sleep at work then sleep the rest at home. No health issues so far.. been doing this 10 years.
bet you a linkie this is not someone talking from experience
>What job are you going in for OP?
I check electrical engines (used for gates and stair lifts) for malfunctions and repair them. The pressure for performance isn't high. Actually, it's quite comfy and the monotony doesn't bother me.

Can I ask how you got the gig? A friend is a good auto repair guy but not a good fit for working in a dealership or repair shop b/c he's not so good with pressure (i.e from manager to get job done faster). I'm trying to help him find a gig like this. Have tried to encourage him to look into working for a school or local government with a fleet of vehicles where he can do good work but not a lot of pressure. Your sounds like a dream gig for him desu.
Let's say it's comfy in comparison to a packaging job for an online retail shop. Work still has to be done, of course. I went through a mechatronics fitter apprenticeship. When I applied at a temp agency, they got the gig for me and I have good chances that the client is going to directly hire me.
Thanks and good on you, fren. Sounds like a good gig. Best of luck with it.
I work a lot of night shifts.
If you struggle to sleep when you get home in the morning, the trick is to not eat anything 4 hours before you plan to sleep. Also helps you loose a lot of weight and you sleep good during the day.
Works well for me anyway
I have my evening meal as soon as i wake up in the afternoon and eat a sandwich and a lot of fruit through out the night, bananas for carbs and rest for nutrition
It's just not the same it needs to be absorbed through your skin
No brainer
Red bull and Doritos.
So I should getting a daylight lamp like recommended?
Thanks, m8. I wish your friend success.
Unhealthy when done longterm. Red Bull is only recommended when partying.
This sound nice and does seem comfy. Bet there is a lot of opportunities for side gigs with this position too. Congrats OP!
get a gun, OP.
This
Why should OP buy a gun? inb4 sudoku or dindus
Just sleep 7h-9h as you normally do.
When I first started trading, I had to stay awake to roughly 6am because timezones and shit. After ~2 years I started feeling that I had low energy, so I started with a few vitamins and eating 3 times a day + fruits/maybe a salad between the meals if I felt like it. Around 2 weeks after that I felt like my energy levels had increased some and 2 weeks after that I was back to "normal" even though I was still staying up all night trading.
I then started working out some, not a ton.. just a normal 1h workout 4 times a week. The reason I felt like starting working out was simply because it helped me control my mind, when I sat inside all day every day (even though eating healthy) my mind played tricks with me. For example, I could feel some pain from coming from first my left side chest then a few hours later from my right side chest. But I went to two different doctors and they both said that I'm in perfect health and the reason I feel pain sometimes is simply because my mind is playing tricks on me.
But your job might not even be sitting inside for 12h+, BUT those are my tips.
>graveyard shift workers
>little human interaction
Not true.
Thanks for your contributions, it's appreciated.
It's comfy at times during nightshift but of course it's not like you can slack off all the time. As I've said before, you still have work to do.
>Join a 24hr gym if you can.
Hence I live in a big city, I might be lucky enough to find one with a tanning bed. Do they help with producing Vitamin D or does artificials light not cut it?
>But your job might not even be sitting inside for 12h+, BUT those are my tips.
Thanks, man. I can sit when it's appropriate according to the task. Most of the time, I am inside. Interesting to hear that your body can take approximately 2 years of being awake at night without serious complications.
>Interesting to hear that your body can take approximately 2 years of being awake at night without serious complications.
Well I mean even though I'm awake all night every day, I still sleep for ~8h from around 8am(depending on the markets) to around 16pm. So I still get my daily much needed sleep.
The only big and obvious problem is that I barely get to see the sun because I sleep all day, which is why I take vitamins.
