>I'm new to the stock market, what stocks should I buy? Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks, and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.
For everyone looking for dividends on blue chips why not wait till the dust settles?

serious question for all of you stock people: do you also own crypto, or trade it? or are you all in traditional stocks? it doesn't make sense to me personally to trade stocks given how less volatile they are and how much less money you could make with them, but i can see holding them as you would a 401k being useful for the long term.

Can some fortune teller please tell me what price ACB will be when it lists on NYSE?
Traded a lot of shitcoins last year and still holding some aswell as BTC but learning to trade stocks and be profitable on a consistent basis whether it be a bullish or bearish market is a skill that I think is very important that nobody can take from you. You can trade for speculation, you can invest for growth, you can invest for dividends.. there are so many different ways to attack the stock market aswell as futures and forex. Not saying you can't do this with crypto but lets face it, the stock market has been around for a lot longer and isn't going anywhere anytime soon and stocks are attached to companies that are real and are usually making money or in the process of starting to make money.
Also if you don't think stocks are volatile you've obviously never traded penny stocks that are trading under .05

Just gonna post interesting charts as I come across them
Depends whether the indices keep tanking or not. Media saturation levels are high here in Canada, I noticed an increase on dude weed coverage especially today. Lots of talk about potential supply shortage (bullish). If news at the end of the day on the 17th is shops selling out within hours... that'll be some kind of something for market open the following day.

i just dont see the point in trading microcaps when crypto exists and fills that niche very well with more profitability.
Vento Aureo, its the shitty english translation of the title. Part 5 of an anime series. If anyone comes early I guess I could play something else that doesn't require 4 previous seasons of viewing.
Stock Related, Earnings Whispers is a pretty good site to check earnings dates, should we add it to the OP during earnings seasons?
>i just dont see the point in trading microcaps when crypto exists and fills that niche very well with more profitability. like i said, learning stocks that are traded based off of real companies is a skill that takes time to learn and is a valuable skill to have for the long run. I'm not saying that trading crypto isn't lucrative i'm just saying that it's not going to be a consistant as the stock market has been over the course of hundreds of years.
If you don't see the point i am trying to make then go ahead and keep trading crypto.. I'm sure 90% of this thread has traded crypto or still trades crypto, just alot of people know that learning stocks is a solid skill to have compared to crypto which is mainly just speculation not really investments also which is mainly still dependent on the price of Bitcoin which has been in a bear market all year.
People here trade both the ups and downs to stocks, they even bet against stock they are panning on holding for a very long period of time.. most people in crypto are just going long. Theres not much skill imo. Most people that got rich of crypto were basically lucky they caught the trend and played the bigger fool theory. I have friends that made alot of money in crypto but refuse to give it up even though they are losing money and have been for the past year but they seem to think they are genuis traders.. they aren't they were just in a bull market. Everyone is a genuis in a bull market. Again, i'm not hating on crypto it's just that money rotates and for the past year it has been rotating out of crypto and into stocks and commodities.. when money starts to get sucked out of stocks and commodities ill try to find where it's going then.. it might be crypto it might not.. but to be fixated on just one thing throughout your whole trading career sometimes is or isn't the best.. gotta adapt to the markets.

gambling with microcaps isn't a skill though, they behave almost identically to the pure speculative nature of cryptocurrencies. in fact i would go so far as to say unless you're doing serious amounts of due diligence any "skill" in short term trading on the stock market is no more applicable than the same kind of trading in cryptocurrencies.
Chase Long
>Colorado game is blacked out here so I have to watch the Leafs and Capitals play instead At least I get to watch hockey. Literally the only bad part of living in Southeast Texas is the lack of hockey.
>gambling with microcaps isn't a skill though again.. you've obviously never traded them. It very much is a skill. Learning how shells work aswell as different types of debt and how it relates to stock price is something you probably wouldn't understand because you have never actually traded them.
If you think microcaps are a gamble then what the fuck is crypto?
You've never traded a reverse merger have you? you've never traded a microcap that is in line to get government grants for the study of drugs to cure particular diseases have you? or a biotech waiting FDA approval?
You have no clue what you are talking about kid. coming in here to talk about your crypto reeks of desperation.. that bear market getting the best of you? lol

yeah.. he's obviously a troll nobody can be this retarded.. i'm done replying to the kid

and yet the price of microcaps is entirely determined by speculative forces. its not like you're betting on some pharma company with fundamentals, you're just gambling away but unaware of it.
No one talking about microsoft in here? Its hitting a trillion dollars by year end. Screenshot this post

why won't you guys just let the fucking market crash?

UEC, URA, UUUU
UEC goes down to $1.00 a share every new year, so its a nice comfy long term hold

Currencies fluctuating in relation to one another is not a scam, you just don't understand how it works. Moral of the story, don't put money where you don't have knowledge. Many investors won't even invest in industries if they are not intimately familiar with them.
if we don't get a lower low before this thing is done I will literally stop investing, and accept it isn't for me. I will be absolutely shocked if it doesn't happen

Where do I go to list/filter all stocks by dividend payout ratios and dividends?
Ryder Scott
All signs point to yes. There literally has not been a single place that didnt run out of weed on the first day of rec sales. Colorado was restricting people to buying 1 ounce per person for $600 and still ran out. Tuesday funday boys.
In addition to pic related; We have a 'carry trade'. There is even a section in the babypips school on that topic. You borrow money from a low-interest currency (the japanese yen, prominently), and buy money from a high-interest currency (very popular in the last years: the australian dollar).
The classical economic reaction of the japanese central bank would be to raise their interest rates (because more people are demanding japanese yen, higher demand means higher prices, eg. higher interest to pay for the item 'yen'). The japanese bankers don't raise their interest rates because they want to stimulate their economy.
For the carry trade, who pays you your profit? The ultimate answer would be: The populace of Australia (they pay you the surplus interest), and the populace of Japan (by being denied proper interest on their money)
You have to pay to get the full list and they don't let you filter by dividend payout ratio. retard.

What do y'all think of owning both the stocks and the etf's that "track" the stocks(more less the sector as a whole but still)?
Leo Nguyen
Thanks, was wondering if there was a free option, but I'll just do some digging or pay.

Its double dipping, I've done it before. Its more or less just saying "I like this stock in particular" while still limiting risk by not having too much weight in it. Like buying SPY, it has like 5% of its value in Apple, so maybe you buy a few more shares of Apple to increase your own personal stake.
This is pure speculation and I have no stake in Ford, but if their earnings miss by the already low expectations I can see the decrease in stock price making them an appealing buyout target for all these companies developing "self driving cars" who lack the production capacity of an established car manufacturing brand. In the event this all went down I could see a 10-15% price drop followed by a near doubling in value. Regardless until I have more to go on than a fucking hunch all I'm interested in is stock for the X Pricing plans cause I'm a truckfag.
Trucks are falling out of style, it really only holds markets in the south and even still Millennials don't like them as much as they used to down here. They will always have a niche, but will they ever come back into style?
probably one of most flashy and highly technical runs of all time
Gavin Gutierrez
That's too bad. I really thought they had something with the C-MAX. I don't own one, but we have a bunch of them at work. Good fuel efficiency, comfortable, good visibility all-around. The only thing I don't like about it is its huge turn radius, especially given that it's such a tiny car.
Alexander Jackson
>>But I still got my 100 shares with dividends reinvested. very nice, you do know of ford's shareholder prices on dealership purchases right?
>but will they ever come back into style? they still havnt gone out of style, millennials need them so they can haul their kayaks, bikes, and animals, ectera around (even if F-350's or F-750's sell less)
t. millenial with a crappy truck because cars cant fit shit in the back
>very nice, you do know of ford's shareholder prices on dealership purchases right? I have. I'm not in the market for a car now or in the near future though, and I prefer sedans, so we'll have to see what Ford will be like down the road. I'm hoping that they decide to make cars again.
Ford F150 sales dont come from consumers they come from fleet operation and the f150 is the most cost effective full sized truck around, mellenial appeal doesnt impact comercial sales. Fyi the west that isnt the west coast loves trucks.
Carson Adams
what the problem here ?_?
Jace Thomas
I do it all the time, you just have to wait the now 2 days for the original funds to settle those stocks are considered "freeriding" look it up
Just down sell it until the proceeds from the original sale settles first. I learned that when I got a warning letter from Schwab when I first started, lol.
Levi Cooper
*don't. Not "down".
Samuel Fisher
Cars are really what's on the way out at the moment. SUV's and Trucks are way more popular now despite being hella pricy compared to cars in the new and especially used market. Ford is smart to get the hell out of economy cars since the market is withering back and the competition has every demographic fielded better than Ford. But Ford has an insane prescense in the Truck space and their plans to bring the damger ranger will help push people who want something even less than the f-150 behind a truck wheel.
This coming from a guy who can not fucking stand the Ford brand it's a very smart move and Ford has weathered horrid times like '08 while declining the auto bailout. I do not get how people see it as a bad move.
Oliver Phillips
I....it no like me want to get bloody or a...anything @_@
