Everybody thought electric cars were weak ass bullshit and nobody thought you could get a battery to push you even 100 miles on a charge. Then out of the people who believed you could have a powerful electric car with a 100+ mile range, very few were deluded enough to believe it would be possible to have the battery last the life of the car.

Tesla has been absolutely critical in pushing auto makers to make real EVs.

Tesla already revolutionized EVs dude. Whether it dominates or not is irrelevant. They are the #1 reason EV is growing at it's current rate worldwide. Even China's EV push is inspired by Tesla.

This has nothing to do with profitability of valuation. Objectively Tesla is what is pushing automakers forward into EV offerings and charging stations.

EVs are a meme until we solve our current energy issues. It's a step in the right direction, sure, but it's still a very expensive car when hybrids are much cheaper and are more reliable when it comes to travel. They continue to bleed money every year and anyone who buys a Tesla now is dumb because the technology is not there yet to replace gas cars. One day maybe, but it's not the right decision yet. Elon seems hell bent on driving Tesla into the ground too, not sure what his current plan is. So it seems to me Elon is funding brilliant engineers and scientists, and he's really not doing much innovation himself.

Again, 30 years ago everyone said we'd all be driving electric cars. 30 years ago, no one was saying private space would outdo the most well funded space organization in the world in innovation and just plain engineering feats.
