Snitching at Work

I’ve been working retail for a few months now after never having worked retail previously, and holy shit, is it normal for there to be so much passive-aggressive, backstabbing SNITCHING going on?

I’m friends with some of the security guards for the store and they tell me things that they hear and see. they’ve seen stuff like sales associates take the manager into the hallway and let off a laundry list of complaints about other associates and violations they had. The same guy who snitched to one manager about other associates allegedly using 10% off discounts for customers, snitched on that very manager to the top manager of the store! wtf!

It’s like there’s two kinds of workers in the store, the ones who just want the job to save up money so they can do something else, and ones who will snitch until they get moved up into the corporate office.

They are attached to their suffering.

Can’t blame them for having ambition, too bad they’re too dumb to put that drive towards something worthwhile.

Depends on where you work I suppose.

I'm at a small pizza place where everything in is in the open for the most part and our one goal is to generally do our tasks to help keep our stress down, support and console each other, ensure customers are happy with good service and good products while poking fun at terrible customers.

Your store sounds about like the Illinois governor race. Unhealthy communication and accusations.

>Worked as a lifeguard at a nonprofit
>Nonprofit was on hard times, going through a bankruptcy at the time
>Coworker wanted to conspire with me to steal money from them by charging hours that we didn't work
>Say no and tell the boss lifeguard next time I see him
>Couldn't prove anything but he said he'll keep an eye out for it
>He caught her sleeping at work and fired her for that before he got a chance to fire her for my thing

And that's the one time I snitched on a coworker. Don't steal from charity organizations that have fallen on hard times.

when you're working at Bon Ton and have a 90 IQ what else are you supposed to do

>our one goal is to generally do our tasks to help keep our stress down, support and console each other, ensure customers are happy with good service and good products while poking fun at terrible customers
I work at a pizza place as well and I can confirm that this is how it be.

Woot! Great to see that your experiences matches mine. Pizza workers of the world, unite!

This generally happens when you work with women. Without gossip and backstabbing they have nothing.

T. guy who changed jobs from working on site with only men, to being stuck in a place full of fucking women

reddit...

Basically this, although the rare ass kissing guy does it too.
Just be glad that its mostly women doing it to each other, and youre not woman.

Thats just people (mostly women.) They are absolute whores for passive aggressive yentering gossip. It makes their horrid worklife interesting

its no use user
the cancer has won

I worked in Finance at a casino for a while. We had three months where the % Hold on the Table Games were waaay below their historical rates, but table games are subject to a lot of variation even over long periods of time due to the games we have on the floor & shifting player demographics, so nobody thought anything of it. Near the end of the third month a recently hired dealer told the Table Games Manager that there was a ring of 8 dealers who were stealing during their shifts. They confirmed the theft by reviewing old surveillance tapes, scheduled them all for the main shift, and had the State Gaming Commission arrest the entire ring during their pre-shift standup. Table Game revenues had a 30% MoM increase after that.

Those guys were bound to get caught eventually

Snitches always ruin it

I only heard about it after the fact when we were doing a root cause analysis, but I think whatever process they were using could have worked indefinitely if everyone kept their mouths shut & they didn't brag/try to bring new people in. It passed at least three months of Pit Boss, Count Room, & Surveillance oversight which all have relatively robust checks that are supposed to catch that sort of thing.

most charities are scams

Similar story - worked at an amusement park for a summer a decade back. In the cashier department there were a few rental locations where the inventory controls were just pen & paper. This was very easy to manipulate and led to multiple cashiers skimming several thousands of dollars off the top over the course of the summer and no one was ever caught because nobody talked & no one ever stole while they were staffed with someone else, it was just accepted that this may occasionally happen and no one would blab about it since they never saw it. Meanwhile at least one Food & Beverage shmuck would get fired per week for eating stale French fries or funnel cake on the job.

lol OP here. a Mexican security guard made a joke about Mexicans the other day, one of my coworkers snitched on him and he’s fired now. And another one got fired when he got into an argument with my coworker and she told corporate on him. damn

Christ, what shit place do you work at? I get high for work and I'll be high all day occasionally letting people know I'm high but most tell me I don't wrok like I'm high, lol. In terms of snitching the worst is complaints about new people being bad and current people fucking up. For my position specifically they don't drug test because of high turnover rate and my position is safe because I'm the best of everyone and I help train new people. They've tried to get me to be a manager but I told them straight up I didn't want to leave my position and I wasn't passing the drug test.
>Tfw bring gummies to work and get co-workers high too lol

Weed shop. Almost everyone there including security comes into work high.

Maybe if one of the guys in the office was in on it.
If it was just the floor guys at least a few would be caught

Get a job where trusting your coworkers need to trust you to live
>something worthwhile
like?
completely understandable, she was going to do wrong
one day its going to be a valid counterpoint of
>how do you know he just doesnt like me and hes lying to get me fire? / care to prove it?

Non profits exist to leech and steal, not surprising they are made up of such individuals.

A company that can fire its employees on account of such ridiculous "reasons" has way too much money.
