So after around 6 months of applying to jobs, I finally got a job. The whole process left me with such a bad taste in my mouth, I can't wash it out. I feel fucking sick. I feel like I have been jumping hoops to get into some cliquey, exclusive club, full of stuck up losers that turn their nose up at anyone who cannot meet ridiculous standards. I have 7 years under my belt.
1) I have become convinced that recruiters simply use you to fill up their calendar to make it look like they are working. They know ahead of time that you aren't going to make it, no matter what you say.
2) HR departments are filled to the brim with young, inexperienced and useless women recruiters that have no idea of the industry and who all ask the same inane, stupid questions that could be answered by simply looking at your resume. Instead of, you know, quizzing you on your job and your knowledge.
3) These same women recruiters will email you back a few days later and tell you that after *serious* consideration ( a whole 48 hours worth) you're not good enough to enter their little club. But I'm sure they can get their best friends a job...
4) Aptitude tests that quiz you on skills that have nothing to do with your job are back. In force. If its a Vista owned company, get ready for a 50 question test, its a mini SAT all over again. You arent allowed to use a calculator because we never use calculators in real life.
5) If you are applying out of state, like what I did, prepare to get butt fucked. Some companies will automatically eliminate you without telling you that they are only taking local applicants.
6) Since I work in sales, I can look through sales navigator to see the general composition of companies. I believe we're crossed the threshold where there are more women in the workforce than men. In fact with the general total incompetence on display that I've seen through recruiting, I'm convinced that there is a serious bias towards hiring females.
