Wagie hate comes from the very real situation of the accumulation of wealth and earnings by the top 5% of the nation.
The way everything is bundled together, the only way to make money on your money is already have at least like 200-300k available to play with in the markets.
So, people in the middle and lower class have no real way to accumulate wealth, as all investments they make are in assets which depreciate in value quickly.

There is also something to be said for workers benefits, which suck ass compared to every other developed nation, and the increasing difficulty of getting into the upper class, most people aren't going to be willing to work 100+ hours a week to maybe, eventually be considered for upper management.
