>be me >doing interview for a senior manager job >goes extremely well >even get the interviewers to laugh at a joke >get asked the salary question >Dodge the question as much as i can >get pressed for an answer >panic >blurt out 40k >interviewers look at each other >tell me I’m hired on the spot and start next week >check salary range on glassdoor >mfw average salary is 90k for this position >90k...
No problem user. I worked in HR. Just call them again and ask say
Thank you for the interview and job offer.
I gave a lower salary expectation in the hope you would give a better offer.
I realised that is not in my best interest and respectfully request your consideration again.
Zachary Gomez
when you get the contract, tell them you thought they meant quarterly wages tell them that you can't live on 40k/can't do the job for 40k >negotiations start anew
Shit larp. People this stupid are filtered out already in pre-school
Asher Young
Why do they even ask? The job pays what it pays. Why do they always need to ask the wageslave what type of salary he expects, as if that even matters to them?
Gavin Allen
Do the job for six months and then apply for the same position elsewhere.
Thomas Williams
Jesus christ Jow Forums I am still fucking depressed about what i did. I calculated that I would just save 5k a year on 40k because the job is in a major city.
It would take me 20 years to save up 100k at this rate to do daytrading.
Should I just reject the job offer?
FUCKING JUST WANT TO END IT ALL AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
you're not being paid even half of what you should be paid
Isaac Mitchell
user, I am now offering you a job for the same role for $80,000. Wow amazing right?! Now go tell your fucking soon to be employer you have another offer for more money and could you renegotiate. Balls to the wall office types fold 9 times out of 10. Nut the fuck up for some fucking moneyyyyyy.
>user walks out the room after lowballing himself >"TEE HEE OMG LIKE CAN YOU BELIEVE IT STACEY? $40,000? AHHHHHAHAHAHAHA HE DOESNT KNOW!!! I'M GETTING PROMOTED FOR THIS!" >you
Bait How come you didn't know that shit before going to the interview?
Charles James
Thing is I did but I didn't want to scare them away since I actually lacked some experience for the job. I was planning to say 60k but I Freudian slipped 40k
Look just tell them you usually do all your transactions in Bahraini Dinars for convenience, and you forgot to convert the salary to USD. 1 BHD is 2.65 USD right now, so you'd be fine.
Brandon Harris
>never had a job before >asked salary question >mom's spaghetti goes everywhere
>not researching comparable salaries before going in to the interview
here OP, this is for you:
due diligence noun

Nicholas Turner
i always ask for less than the usual salary because it is never my intention to do a quality job
Jeremiah Garcia

Jack Campbell

Carson Hill
>I was planning to say 60k but I Freudian slipped 40k
If it's not a larp (and i suspect that it is) you literally jewed yourself, OP
Jeremiah Robinson
>asking low in a negotiation
Lmao why am into surprised biz would do that’s. It’s just like buying high
Lmfao never change biz
Jack Martin
You could easily turn it around then. "Guys I've got another offer that is significantly higher than yours, but I really like your company and would like to work there. Would you consider going to 60k?" If the average is 90k they will have no problem with that. If they don't offer you 60k, then it means your market value is somewhere around 40-59k at your level of experience. Try this cause it will work. My girlfriend also got lowballed after the interview at her current job. After calling her a retard for accepting that offer and not knowing the average salary in her industry, I responded from her email and got her a 60% increase. Also you seem to be on the autistic spectrum cause only an aspie would consider that the end of negotiation and make a big deal out of it. Unfuck yourself cause it will be ok if you are not 100% a sperg.
Grayson White
You still can get those 10% raise every year user. Only 40 years to go little buddy
Logan King
Worst bait, but still 30 replys. good job.
Implying any HR would hire you or talke you in consideration if you downgrade yourself by half of the common salary. Stay neety boys.
Colton Howard
>didn't check out average salaries before interview you deserve to be a serf
Thats what you get for being a pussy. On my current job I asked for a figure that was 33% above my minimum, then settled in the middle and everyone was happy.
If they actually want you, they will always try to negotiate. If they don't give you an offer, its almost never because you asked too much (just to be clear we are talking about professional positions, not a McJob).
