25% tips?

I've noticed that recently a lot of restaurants and even cabs are starting to put a 'suggestion' of 25% tip on the bill

Are they trying to up the 'minimum' % to 25% now? Is this a country wide thing? Who the fuck will pay a 25% tip?

On top of that the 15% suggestion has been replaced with the 18% suggestion and 25% replacing 22%

Inflation is even hitting tips.

edit, only person you should tip is your barber for obvious reasons.

I waiter told me that it was because of the cost of living going up. That shot doesn't make any sense given that the tip is a percentage of the cost of the food we should go up in proportion to inflation

Just look them straight into their eyes while you pay and don't tip them.

Do the same for years, saved me a lot.

i regularly tip 30% and more for good service. i'm a generous guy and i have enough money, i don't care about sharing it. you do you, OP and only tip what you think is fair for the service provided.

I don't know how it is in your part of the country but in NY they come up and tell you that you haven't it properly
