There are tons of American investors snatching up property in a few locations in Belize. You can make a shit ton of money Airbnb ing them out to stupid American and British people who want to do ecotourism. Easy money to specially if you have connections in Belize. I have family members who work for the banks, for the gov, and for the police dept in Belize.

When the new world became colonized, Central America was the wealthiest part, they had mines and massive amount of indigenous Labour.
Northern America was poor, put there was plenty of fertile land, so they offered Europeans free land to come there an settle there.
There is two ways to look at it, depending on your Jow Forumsishness.. 1) North America was founded on the principles that the citizens were land owners and the subsequent rights following. Central America was based on the opposite, all land belonged to a rich overclass which utilized the Labour, since they didn't own land, the rights associated with land-owning didn't extend to the broader population.
