You're wrong about it being a testnet to monero. Sure, a lot of masari's developments are upstreamed to XMR, but they are also adding features exclusive to masari such as blocktree sharding and uncle mining.
Agree 100% about privacy coins though. Monero, Masari and Nerva will gain a lot of traction in the coming years.
