How to store yo crypto?!

Have a ledger Nano S and with me at all times. Nothing happened in 1.5 years but it doesn't feel good. Also, the paper is hidden in my room in our flat where 2 other roommates live and I'm not always at home. Where do I hide or keep the ledger and the paper (or the 24 words in general)? Any inspirations?

A friend of my roommate made a bitconnect joke once so he could know what it is if he finds it, also they're both druggies sometimes so they could burn down the house or something.

Hard mode: I don't trust banks.

Store 12 words in an encrypted zip file in multiple online locations. Store the other 12 on paper physically, and make another physical backup somewhere else. Someone cannot brute force the other 12 with the first 12, and they would need access to both your encrypted online words as well as your physical paper to get access to your account.

shove the ledger up your ass, it'll be safe forever as none would ever wanna touch ya

Buy a cryptosteel and put a lock on it, then buy a hidden safe box, for extra protect also buy a fireproof bag.

Interesting. Yeah splitting up the words is probably a good idea. What online services can I trust to stay online and safe for the next 5-10 years or preferably longer?

but user, you sold all your crypto and told your roommates this right?

They don't know about it. Probably only know the BCC thing from pewdiepie

Do I have to mint those myself?

Cryptosteel is already fireproof but the other steps are great as well.

I know but I still like the Extra protection, also I still have the paper written down aswell for now as I haven't done a recovery using the cryptosteel yet like I have the written down paper version.
What do you mean mint yourself?

Nvm looked it up

Move all your funds to binance. Hardware wallets are a meme.

you dont have to carry your nano s all the time brainlet. what the fuck is going to happen? worse case someone enters the PW wrong 3 times and you need a reset.
Cut the seeds into 2. Give half to your parents and half to your best friend. If your parents and your best friend want to fuck you together, you already lost and you should be an hero.

2 Factor Seedphrase

Remember it.

OP, i have a stainless steel plate...stored in a fireproof safe

Just memorize your seed phrase and leave no evidence. You are fine as long as you have your brain.

Lmao just keep it on Coinbase, you know how many reports I’ve read of people using a hardware wallet and then after a software update the wallet no longer works and their coins were gone? No fucking thanks.

But I'm a stinky linkie, you have anything else?

hide it in an essay on google docs and tag each word with an id infront so you just need to ctrl+f the id to find all passwords.

i.e. if passphrase = link, id=mac
result= maclink

This is a good idea, yea.

I keep my Ledger seed words split into different partial lists and stored in several different houses/locations in envelopes without telling the friends/family what it is (or even telling them that I have left something there at all).

It will be fine, the main way you'll lose your crypto is through operator error, sending it to the wrong fucking address or something.

>you know how many reports I’ve read of people using a hardware wallet and then after a software update the wallet no longer works and their coins were gone?

Yes I do know: Zero.

There is not a single reported instance of this happening with either a Nano ledger or a Trezor. And even if it did, that’s the whole point of the recovery phrase. Stop spreading fud you absolute moron. For most people a hardware wallet, which is about $100 is the best investment they can make in keeping things secure. Again, stop spreading fud.

I use Atomic Wallet and I do this. It's pretty easy once you learn how to memorize stuff.
