Tangible assets

Do you have any? If so whatcha got and what’s the value? Long term plans for it/them?

Pic related I bought 2 base set booster boxes sealed in near mint condition a couple years ago for about £900 each. Now selling on eBay for £2.5k each (UK). Plan on sitting on these puppies for at least another 5 years. Idiots on YouTube keep opening them it’s brilliant. I also have about £1k worth of gold bullion that my dad gave me for my 21st. The rest is £40k equity in my house. Pretty comfy providing I can keep stomaching my shitty job.

am i a retard for wanting to buy one of these and open up for nostalgia. god i literally peaked at 4 years old. it was pure bliss.

So many times I’ve wanted to open one of them just to get a taste of that old feeling of nervous excitement in opening them up. When I was at uni about 4 years ago I went through a bit of a crisis and imported a sealed Pokemon skyridge booster box just so I could open it as it had always been my favourite set, cost me like £500 at the time once import duty had been added. Opening it felt amazing but I felt like shit because I had no use for the cards and it wasn’t like I was gonna display them anywhere. Fuck this drug man. Also I’m pretty sure that same skyridge box would fetch me over £10k now, there are basically none left.

Also just to clarify I’m not just talking about Pokemon shit, I mean tangible assets in general.

Yes, retards like you is one of the reasons this is worth anything.

Most the people on youtube opening them probably make more than that from ad revenue alone, not counting value of whatever cards they get

Just picked up a sealed limited edition starter set. Feels good. In fact I think there are very few remaining in circulation

I have a yugioh promo sealed, made like 50% already in 3 months, but i do think im going to wait at least another year

Got some reserved list MTG cards. But I mostly flip MTG collections instead of holding on to it. Regret a lot of sales but I also got out at the perfect moment for quite a bit (Cards got reprinted and I was able to sell at the peak).

smart money I have one of these too. won't sell because I like it too much. may open it though someday

ITT, faggots

I'm big into casino history and memorabilia. I'll post some when I'm done on the toilet

classic chips. got a WSOP from last year and some no cash value circus circus chips. circus circus is probably my largest single-casino collection, got like 80 of them because im waiting for that place to finally get imploded.

Got a bunch of video game gear that is in great shape. I took care of my stuff, thank god. Some of it is already going for a mint on e-bay and the like. NES, PS1 mostly

some player's cards. they were introduced in the mid 80s i think and pretty much killed the comp scene. comps were tracked by the cards instead of the dealers/waitresses. the punch card you see was actually still used through the late 90s, and i think ive got one or two that are actually from the early 2000s, no mag strip.

Also got a bunch of baseball cards from back when kids still did that shit.

some "ticket in ticket out"s. ive got about 150 or so last time i counted, and these are honestly what i look for when im in bumfuck nowhere in nevada. most of the small town casinos dont have table games, so no chips, cards, or dice. gonna make a nice table out of them one day, maybe a wall mural. also, some of the reverse designs are kinda neat and tell the property description so you always know where it came from

and my favorite. an expired TITO

What do you do with this stuff? Planning on selling these in the future? Do you just go to casinos frequently? Are you a hoarder?

depends if a box of cards and several albums of chips/tokens/TITOS is hoarding. i tend to think not since it doesnt require much space. planning on it just being a retirement gig. id say probably 3/4 of my stuff is modern, so its not like theyre all "collectible" at the moment.

one of my recent catches though was getting all the chips and cards from the lucky dragon before it shut down last year. i cant imagine many others having their chips.

Nice. Can't say I'm into it, but that's turning into an impressive collection.

i suppose its slightly related, but if anyone is interested in silver, the four queens has a long history of "silver strikes". its a slot game in which the mini jackpot releases a silver coin, usually face value of like 10-15 bucks. obviously no one really ever cashes them in, but theyre reputable and have dozens of differenet series. ebay has them at pretty much silver spot price.

You have to find a buyer willing to pay 2.5k for that box or its not worth 2.5k. Not many people are buyers in the first place. There is a reason the us doesn't charge taxes on the sale of collectibles. Because it is very hard to turn a profit. It usually results in loss.

Just sold a couple boxes of sealed MTG product. Held them a little over a year, maybe 40% profit. My gold and silver are tangible assets I'm not letting go of, though.

Have a look at completed listings on eBay. Those really are pretty easy to flip.
