Let's discuss minimalism under the assumption that time is your most valuable asset.

minimise spending tips
- buy a guitar : you got a hobby and something that will last you for years
- buy a good quality wired headphones
- use safety razor (a cheap one is fine) with good blades you save shitload of costs
- if something is broken always try to find out if you can repair it
- try to buy clothes that don't relate to current trends but always look good (polo's in one colour etc.).
- try to buy shoes with good year stiching, that way they can almost always be replaced.

Rent vs Buy depends entirely on where you are and what your plans are.

My question was broad. Not only for real estate

buying usually wins over the long run provided you were smart about where you buy. I also found that it gave me a real financial goal. I got a pretty poor rate (5.25; from 5 different lenders, too) so I'm all in on trying to pay this off as soon as possible, hopefully 5 years).

the one thing that sucks is that zoning and other regulations forbid small houses and apartments such that it's quite difficult to find something under 1000 sq in some markets, which is realistically kind of a waste if you're living alone. I'm in a 2 bed 1 bath house but I would have loved to have gotten something much smaller I could have paid off much more quickly. Of course on the other hand zoning artificially puts a bottleneck on supply which basically guarantees property appreciates (though there isn't necessarily as strong a correlation as you may think)

>drive a 7-10 year Honda Civic/Toyota Camry until the present value of repairs & gas > present value of buying, tanking, and repairing a new one
>either live in your parents house or in your civic. If weather conditions are bad in your area buy a used shipping container and insulate it. You can ammortize the cost of insulation, but the value of the storage unit should be indexed to inflation if global shipping and metal prices are relatively stable, so you can expect to not lose money on it.
And of course reinvest all your money back into your hedge fund.

Here's a better idea than shitimalism: don't waste money on stupid shit, and make things for yourself that will make your life comfy and productive. Shitimalism fags think they're interesting and superior because they own one chain, yet all they do is write shitty songs for the acoustic (autistic) guitar. Meanwhile there's some guy with a big scrap pile of metal and a workshop full of tools and he's making all kinds of cool shit, or a collector with a study full of oddities and shit that he enjoys looking at. Basically minimalism is for low IQ retards who are looking for a way to feel superior to everyone. Absolute cringe.

Before we get into it, I will say this: stop worrying about whether or not you're wasting time, because life doesn't happen on a schedule and you'll never be satisfied. Spend a few hours having good conversation, building a table, taking a walk, or tending to your garden or something. Buy land or a house if it's a good investment, even if you have to spend a lot of time working on it. Value your time insofar as you don't get to the point that allocating time to your day becomes a series of calculated transactions.

I only say this because I lived very chaotically at one point and when I had trouble getting shit together, I tried to overcompensate by planning every small detail out on a centralized spreadsheet. It worked out really well for a while but it made me feel like a miserable NPC over the course of a year.
