I'm europoor actually, sorry about that.
It was some time ago, so I'm not sure it was explicitly stated they will win with US economically (at least not individually), it was more about them getting into top10 from wherever they were in the rankings.
I vaguely remember the justification for them rising up was that they now have the critical mass in market size and are ready to experience rapid grow similar to US after the war. They just needed to clean up some internal mess and warmly welcome the capital flowing from all around the world...
