good advice for the layman patriot, BORING advice for the investor, although it's still something you should also consider for future generations or late retirement
the bulls have to break 2755 resistance or we are still in bear territory.

if you continually invest on a regularly scheduled basis with a set amount of money, and do so over time, you will beat out anyone trying to time the market. i will continue to invest how i've always invested and do so for the next 10-12 years until i retire early. if we hit a recession soon, i could conceivably retire in 5-6 years depending on if my work is significantly affected or not.

whats your current portfolio and strategy

>you will beat out anyone trying to time the market bit misleading

i long everything.
2/3 of my portfolio is in mutual funds (Growth, Income, Emerging Markets, and a World Fund) mostly in growth and income though. Auto investment of about $550 per month in equally spread out across the board.
I also have a divvy portfolio (1/3 of my investments) with about 20 stocks in it that I use to gain passive income. I get divvies and cap gains from my mutual funds, but me choosing the stocks specifically lets me pick ones I think are undervalued and also allows me to choose when my paydays are.
Since my mutual funds are steadily growing (8-10% per year), most my new investment goes into my dividend portfolio to get compounding interest on reinvested dividends.
Its a safe strategy I prefer. but one that works nonetheless. i certainly haven't gotten rich quick though.
Sebastian Martinez
Buffett would say otherwise with his August increase in AAPL shares
Kevin Roberts
Algos were signaling short term long signal at open price today(average trade for these 48 hours) tend to have historically fairly high hit and payout ratio
true, some people get enormously rich shorting recession drops, but the average investor is better off continually investing in the market than trying to time it. that's what I meant to convey

Only bad companies who won't survive have dividends currently
Carson Bailey
I've been buying $500 twice a month for a while now, Im split between index funds on the Chadaq and SP500. I have a 15~ year time horizon so i havent started to buy any safer divvy companies, i will take the volatility and higher growth of growth stocks for now.
Once I have a big enough portfolio transitioning it into divvys like KO PEP JNJ is what im ganna do and live off the divvys too, and leave the principal alone
we're both making it
Ethan Barnes
oh look, a 12 year old thinks he knows about the stock market because he invested in SNAP
you do understand shareholders like companies that promote shareholder value. pretty soon google, amazon, Facebook, etc. will all have dividends. next 5-10 years.

In the train going home, comfy as shit watching the qts - for eyes only tho, I got a gf. Green today, bought the STM dip and I can't thank myself enough. It's RPG night tonight, I'm gonna get my players explore a necron "ruin" in a Deathwatch game.
Amazon is literally taking over the world, taking your data, getting tax breaks, and doesnt even pay dividends. How is everyone okay with this? One day Bezos is gonna offer a stock buyback and just own the whole Quadrillion dollar pie while being the only person you can rely on for package delivery and your internet websites staying alive.
what about google? I was searching for mountain villa in italy, in italalian (not a language I speak, just needed to see something) using DDG. next day google is pushing me ads "la tua nova casa in montagna" (your new house in the mountain) google has no competitors, their competitors are honeypots or spinoffs

shorts or puts? if you have puts far enough out i wouldn't worry. this is temporary run up. coming from someone who is holding long.
Daniel Jones
Italy refuses to comply with Brussel's demand to dial back its highly leveraged budget plan. The deadline ends in 5 hours. Italy has a cabinet meeting in 1 hour.
If Italy doesn't comply, the EU can issue austerity measures. If Italy doesn't comply with those either, the EU can issue sanctions. This has never happened.
