it does make sense though, with offchain computing and SGX link takes away a huge part of ETH's job. Link and eth combined can pave the way for a totally different economy and both have underlying utility value. What does btc or bch have other than being the first?

well PoS already works on various other coins, it's more about getting it "right" so that staking is a fair process. There is no shortage of shitty peercoin forks with buggy PoS.
