A strangle is buying a simultaneous put and call. Looks like he's assuming a normal distribution for SPY returns and I think he's calculating the probability that the change in SPY, in either direction, will exceed a certain value (which is silly for a few reasons, the first being that SPY returns don't follow a normal).

Trading on the ASX for about 18months now with a mix of longterm, short term and day trading activities and am now deep in a hole, sitting at about -13% overall. October was a shitfight the entire time, before it finally broke green again, but today was the worst day yet. About 4% wipe todays session.
Reality is, stocks fall way faster than they rise so a good run of green days seems to always get shit up by one bad one.

Buy FTE networks. Based on fundamentals it's worth >$20 per share, it outperformed significantly on the last quarterly report, and it's currently trading at $5. They'll have significant new revenue streams opening up next year due to their crosslayer subscriptions starting.
Their debt has been refinanced to flat 4% interest and they're unaffected by the trade war so they should be quite stable in any economy. Main threat is potential stock dillution.
